Show & Tell {Harrison's birthday}

Poor Harrison.  I think he is getting a bum deal for his birthday this year - but it's at least partially his own doing.  I offered a couple of times to throw a "real" birthday party for him, but he didn't want that, at least not this year, so he's not getting it.  (background - I am SO not good at doing childrens birthday parties, but decided that I would obligate myself to throw a "big" party for my kids on their "golden birthday" but that would be the only one they could count on.  LOL  Golden birthdays, by the way, are when your age is the same as the birthdate - Harrison's was actually last year when he turned 14 on the 14th, but he opted to defer his party to this year)

Not only did Harrison decline a party, but our household is in such a sad state this week. DH is still in the leg brace, and since he's back to work he has to get in his required hours on the "knee-bender machine" ALL evening.  And I had my tooth pulled yesterday, so I was: 1)suffering a certain amount of discomfort; 2)still slightly loopy from meds; 3)somewhat grouchy because of pain and loopiness; and 4)later, I was also nauseated by the meds.  To put it politely.  LOL  But Harrison wanted KFC for his birthday dinner so we managed that, and later in the evening had an ice cream cake and let him open the few measley presents we had.  DH and I have ordered him something online, which clearly is not here yet (because I just ordered it today) and the other kids haven't been able to go shopping for him, because DH can't drive and I haven't had time.  So... a pathetic birthday indeed...

Reluctant to smile:

Happy Birthday Harrison!!!!

Oh, wait... one more picture of the birthday boy...  this should really go with the next post I'll do, but I think it fits well here.  Harrison decided, for some reason, to make our little kid craft project yesterday, a totem pole; and he posed so nicely for this picture, I feel I must share it:

Show & Tell is hosted by Mary aka CanadaGirl - check  out her blog to see other entries and to participate!

It sounds like you have a very understanding, good natured son! Big birthday parties are over-rated anyhow.

This sounds like a really lousy week - you must be feeling overwhelmed with it all. I hope next week will be better for you and you feel much better.

Pictures of you son are very nice - he seems very laid-back and unspoiled. Now, that's a blessing!

Tirzah is 12 on the 14th. So she has a way to go til her" golden" Birthday, but I think her Bat Mitzvah took its place! October is filled with Birthday's and although tomorrow is the 14th, and Tirzah's Birthday, the party tomorrow will be for her two year old sister.

They all grow so fast. May the Lord bless Harrison with Joy as He directs his steps through the coming year.

Because of Jesus, Bobbie
