Goal Planning Monday: September 17, 2012

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. ~Psalm 90:12~
This is the verse that I chose as our school year theme verse, and it seems appropriate for Goal Planning Monday too.  Here's how I did last week:
  1. Clean up the family room. Done.  Well, not "done" as in "it could be in Better Homes and Gardens" now, but "done" as in "it's tidy and presentable".  Which is considerably better than it being a disaster, which was the case at this time last week.  I sorted out the boxes and stacks of schoolbooks that were crowding the piano and thoroughly vacuumed after I tidied up.  The walls still need washing and there is way too much stuff in there still, but at least it's corralled a little better and that gives me hope that someday we can get rid of the things we truly don't need.
  2. Clean up my desk. Progress, but not much.
  3. Keep grading and lesson plans up to date all week. Almost done.  I didn't get the last bit of Language Arts graded, but I think I did everything else.
  4. Baking and meal planning. Done.  I baked bread twice - from scratch! - and did a decent job of getting meals together.
  5. Start scheduling vehicle repairs. Progress.  Ordered the new parts for the body work on the van.  Still need to get in touch with mechanics for the other work.
  6. Reading... Progress.  Barely started on Hamlet.  Barely.  But I got some other reading done.
  7. Blog goals... Progress.  I didn't get very far with vacation pictures, but I'm working on that now.  Kept up with the other things and wrote one review.
  8. This week's errands and to-do list: complete.
And for this week, I hope I can see progress in the following areas.
  1. Clean up my desk and start my own studies.  I'm starting a tax training course, so room to work at my desk is more important than ever.
  2. Keep grading and lesson plans up to date all week.  I am doing my best to establish a good habit of grading as we go for this school year so I don't wind up trying to reconstruct what we did when later on.
  3. Baking and meal planning.  After some success with taking the time to bake bread last week, I'm encouraged to keep that up.  To make meal planning easier, I am going to try to establish one night a week that will be a crockpot or soup meal (usually Tuesdays, since that is the day I most often spend running around and the time to make and clean up dinner is just not there.), and plan on having the Rerun Buffet every Wednesday.  That's leftovers, just sounds more interesting.  Wednesday night is our church midweek activities, so putting out a buffet of leftovers keeps dinner easy on that night as well.
  4. Vehicle repairs and appointments.  I need to get some of the things on the calendar, at least, so we can plan for them.
  5. Reading... keep working on Hamlet, and I have another couple of books I need to finish up.
  6. Blog goals... besides the vacation pictures, I have a review to post this week.
  7. Plan a field trip.  DH and I want to visit the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia to see the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit before it moves again.  And when we do that, we'd also like to see the Independence Hall area of Philadelphia.  Landon and Kennady have both said they'd like to see the Liberty Bell, and it does fit in very nicely with our history studies.  The rest of the family has visited Philly several times, but the two youngest haven't (or at least Landon wouldn't remember it) and I think it's something they should be able to do since we live close enough to make it happen as a day trip.  And ALL-DAY trip, but still.
  8. Sewing and mending.  I still haven't finished a couple of projects that I really need to work on, and I need to clean up the sewing area too! Yikes!
  9. This week's errands and to-do list includes: gym class, CAP, choir, church activities, a co-op planning meeting, and of course the inevitable trips to the library and grocery store.

Ah yes, we have crock pot Mondays as that is the day that we are in town for lessons and things. Each day has a different theme for meals and that helps with planning immensely.

I hope you have a great week. Thank you for linking up regularly!

Looks like last week was great... done or progress on everything.

We love Franklin Institute. I wanted to do a trip to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and a few other historical things in Phila. We are studying the Rev. War now. Unfortunately, we can't afford it.

Hope you are having a great week. God Bless.
