Virtual Refrigerator: Patriotic Art

Happy Independence Day!

Today I'm also glad to get back to posting something on our Virtual Refrigerator, which I'm delighted to be co-hosting with three wonderful bloggers. Each week the blog hop will rotate between A Glimpse of Our Life, Angels of Heart, Homeschool Coffee Break, and Every Bed of Roses. This week Jennifer at A Glimpse of Our Lives is getting us started.

Regrettably, my camera has served notice that it will need to be replaced pretty soon and it has been very unreliable recently. Since today's Virtual Refrigerator falls on Independence Day, I chose a couple of artsy things from the archives to feature.

When we finished our history study through America the Beautiful, we celebrated with a patriotic party, and Kennady decorated a cake for us. I think cake decorating is very artistic, and it's something Kennady is interested in. She kept her design for this cake very simple, but she's done more challenging things too.
Another family night activity we enjoyed during the America the Beautiful study was a Route 66 Diner night. Again, Kennady provided the appropriate visuals - a diner sign and placemats.

And I chose this pencil drawing she did early in the school year to practice drawing from a photograph. Kennady chose a photo from our visit to the Ponce Inlet lighthouse in Florida, and made sure she included the American flag.

This post is linked up to the Virtual Refrigerator Blog Hop at A Glimpse of Our Life. Add a link to share your child's art or your arts and crafts how-to posts, and visit the other blogs and admire what's on their Virtual Refrigerators!
