Homeschool Mother's Journal: More Snow Edition

In our homeschool... the biggest thing going on was me working on report cards. The report cards themselves take only a few minutes. It's the process of catching up all the grading that I've allowed to get by me that takes up time. We also had some snow days and a day without electricity, so the end result was that the kids got a bit of a break from school this week. Hopefully we'll all be ready to hit the books hard on Monday.

Music/Art - one thing I can always count on is that Kennady will work on Art without being reminded! And she'll practice piano and guitar too. That's a good thing, because the snow caused lessons and choir to be cancelled this week.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share... There was a lot of advice and inspiration shared by Schoolhouse Review Crew bloggers this past week during the 5 Days of Homeschooling Essentials blog hop. I've been reading during the week, and I plan to use my weekend blog-reading time to catch up on the others! In other news... on Monday our electricity went out in the morning and didn't come back on until mid-afternoon. So we sure didn't get much done. Then on Tuesday the snow started again. I tried to drive Spencer to work and the roads were impassable. All activities were cancelled that day.
There was a lot of drifting overnight and it was still bitter cold, so schools were closed on Wednesday. We wouldn't care, except that school closings mean that our church activities are cancelled. Boo!! On the plus side, the teens who were able to get a ride got together at the youth center to go sledding!

One of my favorite things this week... Maple Bacon Monkey Bread - breakfast of champions! (At least at our house on a Saturday morning!)
Things I'm working on... all the usual stuff, plus we're starting a small group at church this weekend studying the book Sticky Faith. And I'm the facilitator, so I'll be adding the prep work to my schedule.

My posts this week included:
A link to share... This week in history - the first Winter Olympics began in Chamonix, France.

On the bookshelf...
  • Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon
  • Open Ice by Jack Falla
  • Her Royal Spyness by Rhys Bowen

Beautiful photos! What a week - and without power, too! Ugh. It got COLD here, but... I'm in central Texas so I think about that much differently. Not sure what we'd have done without power. Great post, thanks for linking up with Christian Fellowship Friday! Be blessed!

The snow looks so pretty! We live in Florida and my kids dream about getting a chance to go sledding!! As far as report cards, it works the exact same way at my house. The report cards themselves take only a minute, it's all the catch up grading that takes a long time! I always promise myself that I'm not going to let that happen again...and yet it always does! UGH!
