In our homeschool... well, this was the first week that counted on the books for the 2015-2016 school year. Not a whole lot changed as far as what we worked on though. Landon worked on Algebra; and he and Kennady both spent some time exploring  Stinky Kids Math for a review we'll share in a few weeks. Also, Landon got back to work on the Technical Drawing course he started last year and will finish this semester. He is finishing off the last part of the World History course as well, before starting on this year's US History course.

Kennady is working on the Illuminating Literature curriculum from Writing with Sharon Watson that we'll be reviewing next week. She is also reading a book about C.S.Lewis from YWAM Publishing for an upcoming review. That book has a Unit Study to go with it, so we'll choose some of those activities for her to do. In addition, she got back to work on her Life of Fred math.

The first day of school I definitely needed an extra tall cup of coffee, and I used my chalkboard mug because it's so teacher-ish and everything. I've been using Homeschool Tracker Online to finish getting our lesson plans in place, and to keep records of what we're working on.

In other news... on Sunday evening we had family movie night at the drive-in! We saw The Fantastic 4 and Pixels.

The rest of the week has been mostly school and work, so not too much to report!

34 Weeks of Clean...

I have been participating in a weekly challenge and link-up at Family, Faith, and Fridays and this week we cleaned up The Cars! This was pretty easy work for me, because I had my RAV4 scheduled for service yesterday, so they vacuumed the inside of it; and I made plans to take it to a fundraiser carwash today so that will be the outside done! Not only that, but since it's a brand new vehicle - we've only had it two months - I am still pretty fussy about it being kept clean and not allowing food in it. The exception was at the drive-in, and I was anxious the whole time that one of us would drip milkshake or ketchup or something on the upholstery! Our truck stays pretty clean inside, but I'm having the kids give it a once-over and a vacuum today; and maybe a quick wash as well.  How about I do a quick post one day next week showing our clean vehicles, and a summary of all my progress on this challenge since January? I have a feeling that as I look back on the pictures of areas freshly cleaned and organized, I will probably realize that I need to redo some of those areas that I didn't keep as tidy as I should have!

 Week 34 is The Finale for this project, but of course we know that keeping our homes clean and organized is an ongoing effort. So... go to Family, Faith, and Fridays and check out the e-book being offered to participants in the challenge and to subscribers.

On the bookshelf...

The Fatal Tree (Bright Empires) by Stephen R Lawhead
Summer of Promise by Amanda Cabot
The Potter's Lady by Judith Miller
Murther and Walking Spirits by Robertson Davies

I didn't finish any books during the week, but there are always book-related posts and other things on my book blog, Just A Second.

A parting shot... Ironically, I took a selfie of my "crown of glory" to share with some online friends during the first full week of school! Coincidence?

Well, I don't know about the righteous life part, but I'm doing my best.
Gray hair is a crown of glory;
it is gained in a righteous life.
