In our homeschool . . . we did our best to get lots done after my sick days last week. As usual, there were items on the list that we didn't get to, but there were successes as well, so I try not to worry too much. On Monday evening, Landon and I went to the final planning meeting for the grad ceremony, so the reality of needing to make sure all his courses are complete was highlighted. I go back and forth between being confident that it will happen, and fretting just a little bit that he won't make the deadlines I've set for him!

What's New . . . We ended the week with an impromptu phys.ed. class - the kids went skating with a couple friends. Initially a small group of families from our homeschool group were going, but then one family pulled out, but by then time Landon and Kennady had started drumming up interest among the teens. In the end it wound up being one mom bringing a couple of younger boys, and me dropping off the four high schoolers. They had fun even though none of them were very good at the actual skating! In fact, Kennady has a pretty ugly bruise on her knee now thanks to the number of falls she took.

Will they go again? I'm not sure they will. It might depend on how long it takes their bruises and blisters to heal! Anyway, from the couple of pictures I took, it looks like they spent almost as much time using the wifi as they did trying to skate!

In other news . . . Let's see - on Sunday evening, Kennady and I went to Ladies Theme Night with a small group of ladies from church. It's been several months since we've been able to have this get-together, and we were hoping that more women would come out. But as it was, we had some delicious food (the theme was Italian!), played a game, and had a lot of good conversation and fun.

I've already mentioned the grad planning meeting on Monday night. We got most of the details sorted out, and everyone seemed happy with our decisions. Turns out we will have a full band of graduating students that will be accompanying for a couple of songs during a praise and worship time during the ceremony. Landon will be playing drums, so that's pretty cool! We will also have piano, guitar, trumpet, and a harp. I'm excited about the harp! The musicians will be getting together in a couple week to get the music together, and hopefully one or two practices before the grad rehearsal will be enough.

Landon is also playing drums with our worship team at church again this week. So those online drum lessons are really paying off!

We got a bit of snow overnight, so we woke up to a winter wonderland again on Friday, but it didn't last. Crocuses and daffodils are coming up and in general it is warming up, so I guess spring isn't that far off!

I finally got some baking done this week, and I guess I'll need to make a point of baking more often.

Super Saturday! Today is supposed to be the Super Saturday that made up for us skipping it last week, but none of us came up with a truly super plan, so we're just going to go shopping. Haha. But we do want to get some painting done in the house, and Super Saturdays are for home projects as well as for going exploring, so it's all good. I'd better wrap this up so we can get ready and head out!

We do have a tentative plan for a fun Super Saturday in a couple weeks, so hopefully that will work out, and I'll have something super to report about then.

I recommend . . . the Schoolhouse Review Crew blog, because we had a lot going on this week! There was the Crafts and Tutorials for Everyone Round-up, with Crew members sharing their how-to's on crafts for kids and adults.
Crafts / Handiwork Ideas and Tutorials

Crew members also reviewed The Dragon and The Raven from Heirloom Audio Productions, and the Faith Builders Bible from Zonderkidz,

The Dragon and the Raven - A Homeschool Coffee Break review of the newest audio drama from Heirloom Audio Productions, based on the story by G.A. Henty

I also recommend visiting the blogs participating in the 2016 Virtual Curriculum Fair. This past week we got started featuring all things Language Arts (you can read my post: High School Language Arts and it will link you to the hostesses and other blogs); and this Monday the second round of fair posts will be discussing Math and Science.

On the bookshelf . . .

Empty Nest: What's Next?: Parenting Adult Children Without Losing Your Mind by Michele Howe
David and Bathsheba by Roberta Kells Dorr
A Beauty So Rare (A Belmont Mansion Novel) by Tamera Alexander

You can find out more about what I'm reading, and other book related things there as well. on my book blog, Just A Second

A parting shot . . . I noticed this week that my entry way had a rather international flavor, although I hadn't really planned it that way. Pottery from Honduras and Mexico on the shelf, along with a painting from Haiti, and a Lord's Prayer wall-hanging from Ukraine.
