Homeschool Weekly - Springtime Edition

In our homeschool . . . we did work hard, but had plenty of fun things during the week as well. We started off with Pi Day on Monday, which meant lots of pie! Pie for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but that was more for fun than for a math emphasis like we used to do sometimes when the kids were much younger. Thursday was also a day for a little fun. Our St. Patrick's Day tradition is to have Lucky Charms for breakfast (and sometimes for lunch too!).





Kennady worked a lot on Science this week, and both kids are just about finished with their current novels for Literature. Looking at the calendar was a little scary this week, as I saw that the end of the third quarter falls next week, and the realization hit us that technically we should be about three-quarters of the way through the schoolwork overall. Yikes. I'm not sure we're there. I'm hoping that we're close! Guess I'll find out when I catch up the grading - yes, I've fallen behind on it again, despite my best intentions.

Yesterday afternoon Landon put his drum lessons to use as he practiced with some of the other students in his graduating class who will be providing music at the grad ceremony. And yesterday evening, Kennady went to an art class and girls fellowship combination. A bunch of teen girls (and some moms) from our homeschool group met at a local paint-your-own pottery place for an evening out. I guess we'll get Kennady's finished piece sometime next week. I'm looking forward to seeing it!

In other news . . . Last Saturday was a busy day for Kennady, as she had choir rehearsal all afternoon, and then in the evening she sang a duet with a friend in our homeschool group's Talent Night. This was the first time we'd ever been able to go to the Talent Night, and we really enjoyed it!

The rest of the week was largely the same insane busy-ness as usual! My choir rehearsed on Monday instead of Tuesday again this week, which opened up my Tuesday night for our homeschool moms' Encouragement Group. Apparently the way to get attendance up for that was to tell everyone that I wouldn't make reservations unless enough committed to coming to make it worth my while!

And last night we had company for dinner, so it turned out to be a very good thing that Landon was able to drive Kennady to her pottery class.
