Homeschool Highlights - Big News!

This post contains affiliate links - using affiliate links from Homeschool Coffee Break helps fuel this blog and our homeschool - thank you!

Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news  . . . I know Kennady worked on History and Health and stuff on Monday, and a little bit on Tuesday, but then she came with me on a road trip the rest of the week, and didn't take any schoolbooks along. Despite my specific request that she do so. So I wasn't impressed with that, but there wasn't much I could do once we were six hours from home! I guess maybe she will have to do some homework on Sunday afternoon? Riiiight.

Other news . . . so here's my Big News! And my highlights for the week too, as well as the reason my post is a bit shorter than usual - my granddaughter arrived this week!

On Sunday evening, my daughter-in-law was admitted to the hospital with pre-eclampsia, and on Tuesday evening had a c-section to deliver the baby at around 34 weeks. So I now have a very tiny granddaughter - Veronica is just three and a half pounds, but she is doing very well.

So that's the road trip Kennady and I took - we drove out to Ohio on Wednesday and have been here meeting our newest family member.

What's New . . .

I recommend . . . I heard that applications are still being accepted for the 2017 Homeschool Review Crew, so if you're interested, hurry over to the Homeschool Review Crew blog to find out more. If you are homeschooling at least one child and you have a blog, you are invited to apply to join this friendly group of homeschool bloggers and help us review curriculum and homeschool products! See the post 2017 Crew Applications Now Open! for more info. You can go directly to the application form by clicking HERE or on the graphic below.

On my blogs last week . . .

Here on Homeschool Coffee Break:

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I've been reading:

A parting shot . . .  I guess I'll have to promise more baby pictures next week, when I'm back home (sort of) and have had time to get them onto a computer.

In the meantime, this is the church parking lot, where one of us usually parks at the youth center. In fact, Landon was parked there for a bit on Sunday afternoon. Later that day a storm blew through and brought down a few tree branches, including this one which would have done a bit of damage had a car still been there! Thankfully it wasn't.
