Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news  . . . We did our best to get some things caught up this week, but without any real net gain, it seems. Kennady was spending more time on art, since we're working on Creating A Masterpiece for review, so that took a little time away from other things. And naturally, the tendency was to take away from the things that she didn't particularly like to do in the first place! Also, I kept intending to get grading done and update lesson plans, but that never happened, and that's totally my fault. If spring fever is hitting us already, we are in trouble!

Other news . . . Saturday was a busy day for me and the hubster. We helped out for a few hours at a local home show where our church was providing food concessions as a fundraiser. It was fun and for a good cause - helping pay the way for kids to go to camp. We had a couple of hours at home to relax just a bit before going out for the evening. We met a friend from his work for dinner and then went to a comedy show. We had a decent time, but unfortunately found that comedians don't seem to have much in the way of clean material.

Sunday was another busy day. After service we had a lunch together, then packed over 100 bags with grocery items for a complete spaghetti dinner and delivered them to homes in a nearby neighborhood. The weather was so nice that we ate at picnic tables outside! In February!!

The rest of the week was more routine than I'd been expecting. I had to be available for jury duty every day this week, but as it turned out I didn't have to report after all. So each day we made a tentative plan for the next day depending on whether or not I'd have to go to the courthouse, and then never had to use those plans. Oh well - I'm not complaining! My choir practiced on Monday this week, so I had a little free time on Tuesday when Kennady was at choir. Landon was at CAP as usual, but stayed in town very late after it was over. One of the cadets had to be taken to the hospital for severe abdominal pain during their training, so afterwards Landon and a few others went to the hospital to keep the young lady company as one test after another was done. Thankfully, she was able to go home in the morning, and is on the mend, although it sounds like they were never able to pinpoint exactly what caused the problem. Landon got very little sleep that night, but seems none the worse for wear. I've been a little nervous about him driving to and from work while tired though, I must admit!

Today I should get home from work to find my dishwasher has been delivered! It will be a day or two before we have the installation complete though. And later this evening, the hubster's sister and brother-in-law will be arriving for a few days' visit. Glad we have nice weather to welcome them - unseasonably nice weather, it seems to me, but again - I'm not complaining!

What's Coming Up . . . we're working on two reviews right now - the art tutorials Kennady is enjoying from Creating A Masterpiece; and a book I just started reading called Shepherd, Potter, Spy and the Star Namer by Peggy Consolver. Watch for those Homeschool Crew reviews coming up in about a month. Crew members are always working on reviews, and this week they shared reviews of Project Passport World History Studies from Home School in the Woods. My friend Annette shared a guest post about The Importance of Studying the Philosophers of Old. Coming soon will be reviews of Math Mammoth and children's books from By The Way.

Today a new round-up of posts is appearing on the Homeschool Review Crew blog too - Literature for Kids with a Christian Worldview. I wasn't able to participate in this one, but it looks interesting!

I recommend . . . if you've been wanting to join MyFreezEasy today is the day! They are having a One Day Birthday Sale, so you'll have the chance to join at a special price and lock it in at that rate too! I plan on extending my membership! Did you know that Erin offers an Electric Pressure Cooking 101 class at FreezEasy? So if you have an Instant Pot and need ideas and inspiration, check that out!

On my blogs last week . . .

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished and reviewed Rules of Murder (A Drew Farthering Mystery) by Julianna Deering, and I've been reading:

A parting shot . . . It's not a high-quality shot by any means, but I finally managed to get some proof that the birds have indeed found the new feeder we put up awhile ago.

That seems to be our story fairly often - attempt to get caught up with no net gain. The art work looks lovely though and I'm glad you all are enjoying it!

Your daughter's drawing is just beautiful! Yay for a new dishwasher and not having to report to jury duty!

glad that young lady was able to return home, I hope they can figure out what caused the problem. YAY for the birds finding the feeder (you are sure it was the birds and no dastardly squirrels?)
