Fall Coffee Breaks Coming Soon on Homeschool Coffee Break @ kympossibleblog.blogspot.com

Here we are, a month or so into the school year, and it's at this point that I thought about doing a preview of what's coming up this fall. I turned the calendar page, the weather got a bit cooler, and everywhere I look there's pumpkin spice something. So what will fall bring to our homeschool, and to Homeschool Coffee Break?

In our homeschool . . .

To start with, I'm so glad that so far we've done well with the curriculum choices for the year, and have been keeping up with the course load too. The credit for that goes to Kennady, of course, because she's been working hard and mostly staying focused. Naturally there are good days and not-so-good days along the way, and then we have to make up for the not-so-good days by catching up again on good days!

We're using The Power in Your Hands from Writing with Sharon Watson for our high school writing co-op class, and everyone seems to be enjoying it and doing well. We've switched to No-Nonsense Algebra from Math Essentials for Algebra, and that has been a welcome change. Kennady is understanding algebra better, although I wouldn't go so far as to say she likes it! Both of these are former review products for us, and have found a regular spot in our homeschool line-up.

We're also using Exploring World History from Notgrass, and Kennady is taking French I and Speech & Presentation at co-op. She also takes guitar lessons, sings in the Children's Chorus, and is interning as a director's assistant in the Children's Chorus.

On the blog . . .

We don't have as many reviews going on this year as we have sometimes in the past, but there are a couple still to come. Awhile ago we told readers about some cute Halloween tracts that double as candy boxes from Let The Little Children Come; and soon we'll also be talking about their other gospel tracts and evangelism tools. Watch for that review right at the end of October.

During the first week of November, we'll be bringing our review of the Thinking Like an Architect course from Innovators Tribe. We literally just got access to this today and are looking forward to getting started!

The Homeschool Review Crew has a few more round-ups planned before the end of the year, and I'll be sharing in some of them. Keep an eye on the Review Crew blog for round-ups about elective subjects, character teaching, free resources for homeschoolers, and more. And of course, check out all the products the Crew reviews - there are many more products than just the ones that find their way into my coffee breaks!

I'm continuing to co-host the Virtual Refrigeratora weekly art link-up. In our homes we often display our children's latest artwork on our fridge, and the Virtual Fridge is an opportunity to do that on our blogs. Each week we invite bloggers to "grab a virtual magnet" and share some creative endeavors with readers.Virtual magnets can hold all kinds of projects - not just drawings and paintings, but sculpture, models, sewing and other handcrafts, and crafty home decor! Posts showing your child's artwork or your own, or how-to posts are welcome. Join in the fun! We recently were delighted to have a new co-hostess join us, and she's got lots of creative ideas for including art in their everyday homeschool experience. Here's one of my September Virtual Fridge posts: Virtual Refrigerator - Van Gogh Style - and a brand new set of virtual magnets for October will be available starting tomorrow.
