Homeschool Highlights Holiday Edition - Week Sweet Sixteen

This post contains affiliate links - using affiliate links from Homeschool Coffee Break helps fuel this blog and our homeschool - thank you!

Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news  . . . The approach this week was to fit in a bit of school when it worked out, so Kennady did a couple of History and Math lessons, and worked on assignments for co-op. Most of her attention went to the co-op writing assignments and a project for Speech & Presentation.

On the weekend, the focus was on Music as the Children's Chorus presented their Winter Celebration concert on Sunday afternoon.

Other news . . . The hubster took a couple days off this week, basically because he could, but also to help in getting things done before our Christmas vacation. We attended two Christmas parties at the beginning of the week - one for the church Board members and their families, and one for his company. At the company party, he was recognized for 20 years with the greenhouse and received a bonus!

I worked an extra evening again this week, and there were many errands to be completed. Kennady and I were able to have lunch with friends one day, and she was also able to spend an evening with a friend, courtesy of everyone's lighter schedules during the holidays.

We really haven't done much in the way of decorating this year, and that's a bit of a disappointment to us in some ways, but we are very busy and we are going away for Christmas, so I guess it's not a high priority to have our entire house decorated.

What I Loved This Week . . . The Winter Celebration concert, these flowers that Kennady got from her dad after the concert, time spent with friends, time spent getting ready for Christmas, and another artsy record Kennady created as a gift.

I recommend . . . The Old Schoolhouse Magazine website for all the details on the big Molly Green sale going on now!

On my blogs last week . . .

And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Wordless Wednesday - Winter Celebration Concert
What I'm Reading - December 18, 2017
Scripture and a Snapshot - God With Us (Advent)

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished An Awakened Heart (Orphan Train): An Orphan Train Novella by Jody Hedlund, and I've been reading:

A parting shot . . . or two from a stop made at a garden center one day.

Love the garden center finds. We have a local florist who makes absolutely beautiful arrangements. I could wander around her little shop for hours.
