Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Go Canada!
Homeschool news  . . . In my opinion, this week was perhaps a bit more productive, since Kennady only worked one day. Writing, History, Algebra, and French were the subjects covered. It was a bit of a rough week for French, because she had a vocabulary quiz that really challenged her, and realized at co-op class that she had missed writing down some of the homework she was supposed to do. I expect she'll recover pretty quickly though, and she's been working on French today while it's still fresh in her mind. In Writing class, we got started on the Literary Analysis chapter, and there won't be an essay due next week so maybe she'll have a chance to get caught up on Algebra again.

Other news . . . This has been a pretty quiet, and dare I say - boring - week, but that's okay! We couldn't handle exciting and different every week! Good news - the renovation project at church is coming along well. Bad news - our waterbed heater died and I think we'll need to sleep on the sofabed till the new one arrives. Ugh. But back to the good news, here are some progress pictures.

This is part of the cross that will be on that stone wall.

Just about done out here - this picture was taken Wednesday evening.
As of today I believe the carpet is in!

What I'm Highlighting . . .  This week on the Homeschool Review Crew blog you'll find A Round Up of Why We Homeschool, featuring stories and perspectives from many Crew members about why we decided to homeschool and what keeps us going.

Let's Talk About Why We Homeschool{Homeschool Link UP}

From yours truly, you'll find my story about how we got started homeschooling and the factors in our decision - A Long Time Ago . . . Why We Decided to Homeschool.

A Long Time Ago . . . Why We Decided to Homeschool on Homeschool Coffee Break @ kympossibleblog.blogspot.com - Week 1 "The Reasons We Homeschool" in the Virtual Homeschool Fair 2018

And a post about how I try to stay focused on why we homeschool each year - From the High School Lesson Book: School Scripture.

Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them. ~from Psalm 111 on Homeschool Coffee Break @ kympossibleblog.blogspot.com

On my blogs last week . . .

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished and reviewed Judah's Wife: A Novel of the Maccabees (The Silent Years) by Angela Hunt, and I've been reading:

The Mayflower Bride: Daughters of the Mayflower by Kimberley Woodhouse
A Light on the Hill (Cities of Refuge) by Connilyn Cossette

A parting shot . . . It doesn't happen very often, but this week a train came by just as we were leaving Kennady's guitar lesson. I took the picture from the balcony right outside the studio. The train tracks are basically right under the studio window. Needless to say, lessons pause for a minute or two when a train goes by!
