Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

I need coffee, because it's time to get serious.

Homeschool news  . . . Monday was time to get serious about enrolling Kennady in college classes. We met with an academic advisor at the college and started plugging in classes. She now has a tentative class schedule for fall semester, so things are getting real. She will need to write a placement exam for music theory, which sounds like it should be pretty easy for her since she has covered a lot of the theory but hasn't got a class titled Music Theory on her transcript. And speaking of the transcript, getting hers sent to the college is the next item on our to-do list.

It was a fairly light week for co-op homework, since we only have one more class left. In the Creative Writing class, we have finished all the course work, so yesterday we reviewed the Hero's Journey plot outline and then started watching Tangled.

Other news . . . I worked on Saturday and in the evening Kennady and I went to a women's ministry dinner at church, so it was a long day. But good. On Sunday, Landon's friend and co-worker came over to help him finish our front porch floor!

Well, almost finished. Short just a couple of pieces!

On Monday, Kennady went with me to run some errands. The most important for me being a visit to the building where we will be holding our Homeschool Fair next weekend. The other ladies helping me plan this event met me there and we figured out some logistics and prayed together over the event. Then the most important errand of the day for Kennady - the visit to the college I mentioned. After that we grabbed some lunch and she hung out with a friend while I did some shopping and a few more errands.

Monday evening was the first grad party of the season! Things are getting serious. Our church celebrated our grads with a dinner.

On Tuesday, we tried to get serious about getting some schoolwork done in between all the busy-ness of the day.  On Wednesday, we met with the other grad musicians at lunchtime to rehearse for a bit.

And then after a cookout at church in the evening, we met with the rest of our worship team to get music ready for Sunday. This little guy isn't on the team, but he's a pretty good drummer already!

What I Loved This Week . . . just some fun conversations and times of laughter along the way. It's such a busy season and I have responsibilities piling up, so those lighthearted moments keep the seriousness from weighing me down.

I recommend . . . checking out the new promotion over at SchoolhouseTeachers.com. Right now an Ultimate Annual Membership is only $99, and includes a free tote bag and print copy of the Summer 2011 anniversary edition of The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine. Use the coupon code TOTEBAG for this offer. Or if you'd prefer the month to month option, use the coupon code UNDERTEN to get the Ultimate Monthly Membership for just $9.95/month.

On my blogs last week . . .

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I've been reading:

A parting shot . . .
