Graduate's Cap on the Virtual Refrigerator - share your art posts on our Virtual Refrigerator - an art link-up hosted by Homeschool Coffee Break @ kympossibleblog.blogspot.com

Welcome to the Virtual Refrigerator art link-up! Thank you for joining us as we share what we're creating in our homeschools. We cordially invite you to add your link sharing artwork that's on your Virtual Refrigerator and then hop over to the other blogs and admire what's on their Fridges too! The Virtual Fridge link-up is open all month.

Over the past several years I've noticed that some graduates personalize their mortarboard, and I think it's so much fun! Many of the designs I've seen are quite elaborate and often are done after the ceremony, making the cap a unique keepsake of the achievement. But if the ceremony allows for it, it can be a fun way to individualize the event.

Kennady's high school graduation ceremony was last week and she did make her mortarboard the canvas for a bit of artwork.

Have you seen this trend of personalizing grad caps? If you haven't, check Pinterest and you'll be blown away by some of the elaborate designs!

Here's something kind of fun to close this post. Kennady got out an old coloring book for her little niece to use last weekend, and found this page that she'd colored many years ago. The right color of gown and cap and everything. She added the 2019 to the tassel, but that's all.

It's time for me to hand over the reins of this art link-up and transition to being just a participant. Please say hello to the new co-hosts:  Jennifer at A "Peace" of Mind and Kristin at A Mom's Quest to Teach. I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll do with the Virtual Fridge! This link-up is open through the end of May, and starting next week the Fridge will move to Thursdays. I will still have an anchor post here each week as we continue to transition, but probably won't have new artwork very often. Look for a new Virtual Fridge button on the other co-hosts' pages, or here next week.

After attending numerous graduations as a teacher, I can only imagine the problems that would occur if we had allowed the kids to do this to their caps. So glad that with homeschooling, we can make our own rules.

Kristen, I agree - I kind of doubt this would be allowed during the ceremonies in large schools! So far it hasn't been an issue in our small ceremonies, as only a couple of kids have done it, and were tasteful in their choices, but I think we'd be wise to remind students (as I did with Kennady) that any decoration shouldn't be a distraction from the ceremony as a whole.

How fun to find the color sheet! Congrats to your grad.

A local college did this cap decorating and turned it into a contest. There were some really neat ideas.
