Twenty-Six Lists #3 - Getting Out of Town #twentysixlists

Welcome to Twenty Six Lists! I hope you'll join me in using some fun List prompts for writing. Every other week I'll share a writing prompt and invite you to link up your list, and wherever the prompt takes you. You may want to simply make a list of five or ten items that answer the prompt, or you may elaborate on the items in your list, or even write an entire article. Be creative, and have fun!

I think I probably need to make myself a better to-do list, because I seem to have trouble keeping up with everything lately. Even my lists are late. Or maybe I need a vacation? I did get away briefly a couple of weeks ago, and still haven't got myself sorted out and back to normal afterwards. That's the trouble with vacations, for me anyway. I always feel like I need a vacation to recover after a vacation!

What destinations have been your favorites for vacations? Where would you love to go someday? My list includes some nearby spots that we enjoy and would like to go again, a couple of past favorites, and a couple of the places that I really hope to visit in the next couple years!

List #3 - Favorite Vacation Destinations
  1. A majority of our vacations tend to include visits to family members. Not that there's anything wrong with that! But even when visiting grandparents or the town we grew up in, there are some more touristy sites to hit while in town. When I get a chance to go back to my hometown (Calgary, Alberta) and see family and friends, the visit isn't complete unless we also head to Banff National Park.
  2. Similarly, visits to my husband's family and hometown in southern Ontario often include a stop at Niagara Falls.
  3. Close to home, some favorite spots to get away from it all include the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh, Longwood Gardens, and Deep Creek. When we visit our son and his family in Ohio, we don't often have time for side trips, but Cedar Point near Cleveland is a lot of fun!
  4. We love to vacation in Florida - Disney, St Augustine, Miami, Tampa, the Keys - just Florida in general. And my husband really wants to move there. I'm not ready for that. Yet.
  5. We've visited the Bahamas and loved it! I would happily go back there sometime, or on a Caribbean cruise.
  6. I went to Honduras for a couple weeks and although it was many years ago, I still remember how beautiful it was. I'd be glad of a chance to return there or to see other central American countries.
  7. I have a very long list of places I've not been to, but want so badly to visit. Too many to list them all separately. Basically all over the world!! Here are a few places that have been on my list for a long time and are perhaps highest priority:  Grand Canyon, Alaska, Iceland, United Kingdom and Ireland, Netherlands, Italy, and Israel.

Florida is a favorite of mine for sure! We've also been to Niagara and the Bahamas (as part of our Caribbean cruise honeymoon and I've always wanted to get back to St. Thomas).

I love comments! It's like visiting over a virtual cup of coffee.
