Five Minute Friday - Fresh

Don't you wish we could just erase some of the ugliness, turn the page and truly have a fresh start to this year? Maybe a fresh start to LAST year! Starting fresh would give everyone a chance to think about their words and actions, consider consequences, and maybe make better choices or be better prepared for the curveballs. Time doesn't work that way though. We don't get full do-overs. 

But the idea of starting fresh is more doable on a smaller scale, at least sometimes. I love getting a new calendar at the beginning of the year and even turning the page at the beginning of each month and seeing blank spaces that represent possibilities. A fresh page might be a fresh start on managing time and planning the activities and appointments that are needed and good for me, and avoiding the time sucks that are unnecessary and draining. Each new day is a fresh start of its own as well. Another chance to be kinder and wiser than before; and to learn from yesterday's mistakes and do better today.

When I'm overwhelmed, angry, upset, or hurt, that should be my cue to take a break, get some air, and come back to the situation fresh. With new perspective or determination, and with renewed hope.

A breath of fresh air indeed.



Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope:
Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him."

~Lamentations 3:21-24~
