Homeschool Mother's Journal: In Which We Celebrate Good Friends

In our homeschool this week... I started the week by doing another review, and took Kennady and Landon along with me. We then stopped at the library to collect their log sheets and stuff for the summer reading program. And of course, we needed some books!

Wednesday morning's review was rescheduled so I was able to attend the homeschool moms' prayer time - and no van troubles this week! - then did a review at lunchtime. On Thursday I did another review, leaving me just one to finish up next week.

In other news... On Tuesday we did something we haven't done in awhile (thankfully) - we attended a funeral. The mother and grandmother of very dear friends of our family passed away after a lengthy illness, and while it certainly is difficult for her loved ones to say good-bye, the service was also a wonderful testimony to the hope and comfort and even rejoicing at knowing someone we love so well has been "promoted to heaven."

We got a phone call this week from friends of ours visiting in the area, and were able to have them over on Friday evening. It was a surprise that they were going to be here, so we were very glad that we had free time on the weekend and could get together. The guys traded hockey cards and other sports memorabilia, and I got to hold the most cheerful baby boy for quite awhile - what a treat! I bet I'd even be willing to do time in the church nursery if I could just hold a sweetheart like this little guy!

Last night and today we've all been watching - or at least paying some attention to - the NHL Entry Draft. How weird, but it's fun for the whole family! ;-)

My favorite thing this week was... reconnecting with old friends!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share...

I love Phillip Martin's free clip-art site, and have been using it to make title pages and notepages for my kids' schoolwork for a few years. He also has power-point presentations on the main site, but I haven't used those.
