Right after Christmas, when we were in Columbus, we celebrated my birthday by visiting Franklin Park Conservatory. I realized that I'd only shared a couple of the pictures so far, so I thought perhaps I'd better get a photojournal made before the poinsettias and Christmas trees really seemed out of place!
The first stop was an exhibit entitled "Pixel" which was an interactive modern art room featuring lights that changed color. We had a little fun with that before moving on.

We took advantage of this large poinsettia 'tree' in the atrium for a couple of photos.
Being the holiday season, the greenhouses featured poinsettias and Christmas trees prominently.
It was later in the day by the time we arrived, and getting dark when we got to the Palm House, so lighting for photos wasn't great. Throughout the conservatory, large displays of blown-glass ornaments were showcased.

Did I mention that Veronica was with us? She slept through most of the visit!
The courtyard gardens were decorated for the holidays, and I took some pictures of the Christmas trees, but of course it was too dark to be able to see the plantings.
In one of the outdoor courtyards, there was a large 'tree' made entirely of colorful blown-glass ornaments that had been made in the hot shop.
A unique outing for my birthday, and a bit of a field trip for our homeschool in the bargain!
We did visit each of the exhibits inside, but because of the low light, did not take many pictures. There are four different biome areas and a showhouse in the conservatory, as well as the palm house. Our final stop was the Chihully Collection gallery, which is a permanent collection of glass artwork by Dale Chihully.

I love comments! It's like visiting over a virtual cup of coffee.
