We were on vacation for a few days last week, and packed an awful lot into those days. We were in southern Ontario, where we have spent lots of time, since that's where my husband is from and we visit his family there a couple times every year. This visit was a bit different because we met my sister and my niece and took them around to do some sightseeing. My niece will be at university in Ontario, so that is brought them to the area. I also took an awful lot of pictures during our vacation, so I'll spread them out over several photojournals and not necessarily in the order that we visited the sites.
On my sister's wish list of places to see was Niagara Falls. We have been there many times, but it's so beautiful that we never tire of it. We actually spent two days there. We drove down on Thursday morning, spent the afternoon looking around on the Canadian side, then crossed back into the US and met my husband's sister and brother-in-law at a hotel on the New York side. We had dinner together and then we went to see the falls from the American side in the evening. This set of pictures is from that first day in Niagara Falls - Ontario and New York. And boy is it a challenge to choose which pictures to share! There are a ton of them, and many of them very similar!

See the people in yellow rain ponchos? They have taken the Journey Behind the Falls, which goes down to near the base of the Horseshoe Falls to this up close view. My husband and I did it many years ago. It's an interesting view, but a lot of money and waiting for this vantage point!

My mom specifically requested photos of all four girls together, in which our faces were showing! The cousins both have a tendency to hide their faces when there's a camera involved.

Niagara Falls has long been considered a romantic destination, so the hubster and I figured we ought to have a romantic photo of ourselves.
The rest of the photos are views from the American side of the river.
This is sort of the New York side equivalent of the Journey Behind the Falls. This adventure takes folks down to boardwalks at the base and sides of the American falls.
Would be amazing to take one of the boat trips at sunset, wouldn't it? We tried, but arrived at the ticket booth too late to ride the Maid of the Mist that first evening. Stay tuned, though, because we tried again the next day, with more success!
I didn't think my pictures turned out great, but I did take a couple once the falls were lit up with different colors after dark.

Pictures of our second day at Niagara Falls, and of a few other adventures in Canada coming soon!

I think that is what I am most excited for-- to see the falls all lit up at night. It has been so long since my last trip that I only remember bits and pieces of the area.
