After

One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is an extra 10 Day Writing Prompt Challenge from Five Minute Friday. From March 2nd to March 11th, those of us who are taking part are aiming to write for five minutes each day on this set of prompts. Although I'm writing each day, I'm not publishing each day. This is what I wrote on Thursday, Day Four, prompted by the word "after".

*******************
after it's all said and done

When I'm looking back on an event afterwards, are there regrets? Or fond memories? Both?

It depends. There are always things I think I could have done better or differently, but who knows how much that would have changed the outcome? Even if I had done it all correctly, would the outcome have been significantly different?

'After' means it's in the past. It can't be changed, not really. So maybe we can't change the event, what was said or done, but if we messed up maybe we can learn from the mistakes. We can focus on the positives and the good memories. After living through something that was painful we should take comfort that's offered and we should give it to others as well.

After we think it's all said and done, there's more to be said and done. As long as we're here on earth.

*******************
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
~II Corinthians 1:3-4

Thanks to Five Minute Friday for the prompts and the encouragement, as well as a link-up where we can share.
