Five Minute Friday - Less

less stuff, more life

We have too much stuff. 'We' in general, as a society, and 'we' as in our family. I have too much stuff. When will we learn that we can be happy with less? MUCH less!

Less stuff can mean more room, more freedom, more cash on hand. Less stuff can mean less stress. 

When we aren't buried under all our stuff, we can appreciate the few things we do have. They are things more carefully chosen and things that are more precious and more useful.

Maybe during these days when we are being asked to stay home and spend less time out in public, we'll really learn to make do with less and find that it's not as hard as we think. Maybe we'll run around less and spend more time at home.

Maybe we'll finally learn to be satisfied, content, and joyful with all that we already have.

wouldn't it be nice if we could be satisfied with what we have? Would be shocking in a way. (#12 this week)

Yes, you're so right about the need to think about all the stuff we have. It's overwhelming sometimes. Maybe it's good to be forced to make do with less.

I have a kind of business
I attend to every day,
and it makes a lot of sense
to throw nothing away.
I build the parts for aeroplanes
that amateurs like to build,
and my work is maintained
by a need that I can fill
for welded and wood-formed bits
that save hours of hard labour
from designs built not from kits,
but from desire to savour
the way that craftsmanship is played,
and I thus supply a little aid.

Even the smallest scraps of wood and steel can be quite useful!
