Plan

One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is an extra 10 Day Writing Prompt Challenge from Five Minute Friday. From March 2nd to March 11th, those of us who are taking part are aiming to write for five minutes each day on this set of prompts. Although I'm writing each day, I'm not publishing each day. This is what I wrote on Wednesday, Day Three, prompted by the word "plan".

*******************
by failing to plan, you're planning to fail

This is a favorite little saying of my husband's, and he's not wrong. Because I'm a procrastinator, I also am not very good at planning. I either don't have a solid plan, or I get stuck in the planning stage and don't move on to the action steps.

I've learned that goals need specific and measurable actions so you know you've made progress. I guess those are plans. I know that, but don't always do it.

When we go on a trip, it's a goal to get to Niagara Falls or whatever the destination happens to be. Making decisions about what route we will drive to get there, what hotel we'll stay at (and making the reservations), how we'll pay for the trip, what we'll do while we're there - those are the plans. My goal to go on a cruise will stay on my wish list until I make plans. Plans like researching prices, settling on a date and destination, saving up the money, buying the tickets, and showing up to get on the ship.

Thanks to Five Minute Friday for the prompts and the encouragement, as well as a link-up where we can share.

I am a planner by nature. I love to plan! And I love the quote you included at the top. I do think my planning gets annoying to my family, though.

I love comments! It's like visiting over a virtual cup of coffee.
