Weekly Wrap-Up: In Which We Just Get Through the Week

Homeschool:   I sorely underestimated our ability to get up and moving on Monday morning.  But despite a very late start (which was my own fault, because I told them they could sleep in, but didn't specify until what time) we did get some work done, including a Science lesson about suspensions.  Not that kind you get from a head shot in the NHL either, although I think that's what Landon would have liked to debate.  The science activities for the day were making homemade mayonnaise, and baking a cake - both mayonnaise and cake are excellent examples of the chemistry variety of suspensions.  We opted to leave both of those activities for another day.

We just plodded on through the week, with Landon and Kennady focused on Math and Language Arts, and Spencer working towards getting caught up in Science while staying on track in his other subjects.  He and I also had a couple of conversations about what Math he wants to do next year.  Probably Geometry, which means I'll be lookgin at what the different publishers have to offer over the next several weeks, in hopes that we can make a decision by the time I go to CHAP.

On Thursday morning I finished 3rd quarter report cards for Landon and Kennady so I could turn those in while at co-op.  They both did very well - straight A's, in fact! 8-D  At co-op in the afternoon, the Art and Geography class learned about Ukraine and decorated papier mache eggs - the idea was to color them in a style imitating the traditional pysanky and Ukrainian Easter eggs. I was very impressed with what the kids did! (Pictures later)

We had plenty to work on Friday, including some Art and Science project still incomplete, but I encouraged the kids to keep at the Language Arts and Math for the morning.  I had errands to run in the afternoon, as it turned out, so maybe we'll look at those Art projects on the weekend.  If not, no big deal - we'll finish those things up next week.

In Other News:  I dropped off the flat tire on Monday afternoon but it's not possible to repair it. :-( The new tire won't be in until next week, since it wasn't in stock, so we will make do until then.

Kennady spent a majority of her free time on Monday cleaning up her room. =8-O I guess she is serious about being prepared for company.  However, she had lost some of her enthusiasm for the task on Tuesday.  She did get back to business on Thursday, though, and it looks pretty good! Better than it has for awhile, anyway.

DH got home on Thursday evening (which was a big part of the reason Kennady decided to work on her room again) so on Friday we tried to get back to our usual routines.
