It's been awhile since I updated, and I still have pictures from our vacation to share! These are from our day at Swallow Falls State Park, just a few miles from McHenry. Is it just me, or is this kind of forest and waterfall scenery not exactly what most people picture when they think of the state of Maryland? This beautiful park may be on of our state's best kept secrets. There are two falls - Swallow Falls and Muddy River Falls. At both, the trail offers full access to the river and the falls. No fences! Just signs reminding guests that the rocks can be slippery and to use caution. How unusual in today's world, but it was a treat to be able to get so close. Walking the trail in this park was much more challenging for me than all those stairs at Blackwater Falls. Most of the trail at Swallow Falls was uneven forest walk, with roots and rocks, and inclines. My poor knee. Anyway, on to the pictures. I regret that my camera and my photography skills really don't do the beauty of this park justice.
