In our homeschool this week... well, it's safe to say we didn't do any school LAST week! Although Spencer and Landon did go with their dad and granddad to an air museum in Hamilton, so they did learn about airplanes, especially during WWII.
This week we had some limited school time. The kids worked on some of the subjects they can do independently. I didn't have a printer - at least not that was hooked up to a working computer - so that cut into my plans a little. Really, it was kind of nice to ease back into things, and hopefully we'll soon have the computer issues resolved so we can dive back in next week.
In other news... we had this little thing called Christmas last week. ;-) We drove to Ontario to spend the week with family, and we visited a few friends as well. We even saw a movie - in the theater! We do that about once a year. We chose The Muppet Movie - it was great! Harrison stayed home since he had to work, so it was the first Christmas where we were not all together. Guess that's what happens as kids grow up and become more independent.
This past week was spent in getting unpacked and settled in at home after being away. I celebrated my birthday on Tuesday by using my brand-new coffee maker (purchased with birthday money), going out for dinner with the family (Red Robin - yummmm!), and receiving a great surprise in the mail - I won a recent Tim Horton's Coffee for a Year prize!! A very generous stack of Tim Horton's gift cards. My husband said I should probably buy a couple lottery tickets while my luck was still good. LOL Our computer started having some major issues so it went to the computer hospital the middle of the week. I hope it will be back in working order soon, and without costing an arm and a leg.
My favorite thing this week was... The Tim Horton's win!!!
What's working/not working for us... The computer is not working! Argh!!! Hopefully it will be again soon. Without that computer, I also can't use my printer, and I can't (easily) get new pictures to share. So that makes my blog more boring than usual.
Questions/thoughts I have... Believe me, I have - or will have - tons of questions and thoughts about what I can do here on blogger now that I am making the switch. I am waiting until I have my computer back before I do much besides new posts though.
A photo, video, link, or quote to share...
This version of the signboard Hallelujah Chorus is probably my favorite because these kids are so sweet.
On the bookshelf...
- Already Compromised by Ken Ham and Greg Hall with Britt Beemer
- Merlin by Stephen R Lawhead
- Tchaikovsky by Roland John Wiley
I read or finished several books recently as well, and should probably get reviews done on them. I finished The True Saint Nicholas by William J Bennett, A Christmas Guest by Anne Perry, Death Comes to Pemberley by P.D. James, and Beethoven: His Life & Times by Jeremy Siepmann, as well as a couple of Jane Austen fan fiction books. And I'm still behind on writing about them on Kym's Bookcase too.
A Parting Shot...

I hate when computers don't cooperate! Hopefully yours is up and running soon.
Dropping by from the HMJ
Wow! I love coffee. I wish I would have won that! If you have too much, just send it my way.
I love the way you do your weekly wrap up. I may have to steel it!
Coffee for a year! That sounds fabulous. I hope your computer is fixed now.
You made them do school this week? Slave driver! lol
Saw that video earlier in the season and loved it! It definitely brought a smile to my face:)
