Homeschool Mother's Journal: End of Semester Edition

In our homeschool... some good days and some not so good, but by the end of the week, we'd accomplished most of what we set out to do.  We're a lesson behind in History, and not quite finished the chapter we were working on in astronomy.

Kennady expressed her affection for Life of Fred by sculpting Fred from Play-Doh. LOL

I worked on getting records up-to-date since our first semester just ended. Next week the kids will get to see their report cards.

On Monday evening, I went to Encouragement Group meeting with other moms in our homeschool group.  We shared about some of the writing curricula and resources we'd found helpful in our homeschools, and I was able to discuss plans for co-op class with my co-teacher.  Other than report cards, that will be my priority this coming week - preparing the first lesson for co-op.

In other news... Harrison is still waiting for news about the job(s) he applied for.  Spencer is spending at least a couple hours at a time at physical therapy.  I am dreading the bill...

On Thursday evening, we had friends over for Turkey Nite.  We deep-fried a turkey and shared a good meal together.

Yesterday was a busy day of running errands, and in the evening I went to a movie night with ladies from church.  We watched "October Baby" and I thought it was very good.

What's working/not working for us... the weather wasn't very co-operative for skywatching this week! Just when I'd laid down the law about the necessity of the boys going out every chance they could to observe the moon etc, and we had cloud cover every night.  Until last night, and I DID make them go out.

Thoughts/questions I have... I started thinking about curriculum fairs and homeschool conventions this week! LOL  I'm getting excited wondering who the speakers will be at CHAP!  Registration opens on February 1st, but there's not much info available yet.  Why attend a convention? See how CHAPOnline answers!

One of my favorite things this week... good food! Our deep-fried turkey turned out pretty good; our friends brought some of the yummiest mashed potatoes and corn ever; there were all kinds of delicious desserts; and of course - bread.  I love bread.

That will do extremely well, child. You have delighted us long enough. ~Mr Bennet, to his daughter Mary, who has worn out her welcome at the piano during a dinner party. (Pride and Prejudice

Both of my girls are learning with Life of Fred, and they appreciated Kennedy's sculpture. Your mom's group sounds encouraging. ;)
