Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.
Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!
Here's hoping all of today's fireworks to celebrate the inauguration are the good kind! |
Homeschool news . . . We're still getting used to merging the work and school schedules, but the beginning of the week went pretty well. We got a lot done on Monday, so the week was off to a great start. On Tuesday, Kennady came with me to work and worked on a History lesson for a bit before spending the rest of the morning with a friend. Even Wednesday went along pretty well, although we didn't get to everything I'd wanted to. Thursday was not good though - Kennady was not feeling well at all, and I was at work, so not a lot got done. I'm hoping that she is on the mend and that today will be better. We'll also try to do some school on Saturdays so we can get back on track.
Other news . . . The week has been busy but mostly uneventful, I suppose. The decision by the insurance company was to total Spencer's car, so we got the final paperwork done and now are waiting for his settlement check. Hopefully he will get a chance to go check out the cars he's considering, and will be able to find one he likes soon. Especially as we're needing to return the rental car today . . .
I'm already behind in 34 Weeks of Clean because I did not clean out my pantry this week. Or at least not yet. I may do it tomorrow. We did however get the Christmas decorations actually put away in the garage, so there's that. Visit Michele at Family, Faith and Fridays if you want to know more about this challenge. You can join in at any time!

these finally got put away properly! |
What I'm Learning . . . how to manage my time a little better. It's much more necessary now that I'm working. I have to be a bit more efficient!
I recommend . . . checking out Blogging Through the Alphabet hosted by A Net In Time and Hopkins Homeschool. We've just started with the letter A this week, so you can join in right at the beginning. Or jump in at any time. I'm going to try to do an alphabet series based on art lessons, and started out with The Acropolis this week.

A parting shot . . . This wall-hanging was my Christmas gift from my mom. It's finally hanging in my living room.

Kym, you still have two days left to do that pantry! ;) Yay for the Christmas decorations- glad you are joining us! And, I LOVE the wall hanging from your mom- it is beautiful!!
I love the hanging. It is lovely. - Lori
Ooh! A new themed linky party and a cleaning guide to check out! Thanks for the ideas.
Cleaning the pantry is always such a huge task, I'm mentally sending motivational vibes to you! The wall hanging is really neat.
Sounds like you're adjusting to the work schedule even if some days didn't go as you hoped.
Good luck with the pantry. I intended to do the 34 weeks of clean, but the Christmas decorations were a no go. I wasn't pulling them back out and I'm an organization freak to begin with. They were already organized and decluttered. Then I forgot this week about the pantry, but again I'm a freak about the pantry too and don't cook a lot, so there isn't much to declutter in a half empty pantry. Still, I can't function in clutter. Some areas really need attention and other areas I have to keep tidy on a daily basis to stay sane. I'm hoping to join in when they get to my crazy areas :)
Did your son find a new car yet? Thanks for the shoutout... I have to go read your art lesson now!! :) did you get the pantry done?
Looking forward to reading your Blogging through the Alphabet series. :)
