I'm featuring a favorite piece of Kennady's from a couple of years ago. She did this landscape in pastels and in a style reminiscent of Van Gogh's "Starry Night".

Van Gogh Styled Landscape by KAT, September 2017
I chose this from our archives to share today because earlier this week we had the privilege of seeing a beautiful tribute to the work of Vincent Van Gogh at the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh. They currently have an exhibition called Van Gogh in Bloom. Throughout the conservatory, there are representations of Van Gogh's paintings created in plants, flowers, and landscaping. It's quite spectacular, and if you're in the Pittsburgh area, I highly recommend you see it!

Here are a few of the "paintings" at the conservatory (and look for a series of photojournal posts coming soon with more of the exhibit and the other conservatories and interesting places we've visited during the Summer of Kennady):

The Red Vineyard Near Arles - trellises, topiary figures, and blooms

The flowers and foliage are so beautiful to begin with, but how wonderful is it that the plants are used as the medium to recreate the beautiful artwork of a great artist?

We studied Van Gogh last year. The conservatory looks awesome. I wish we were close enough to add it as a field trip.
