For most of the twenty plus years that I was a homeschool mom, I chose a School Scripture near the beginning of each new school year. I've continued the practice even after my youngest graduated high school, because she's been attending college and because I am still a tutor in a homeschool co-op.
This year Kennady is in her senior year at university, and I'm not her instructor, but she is still living at home so I'm actively interested in what she's studying and accomplishing. As a tutor in the co-op, I'm still teaching and involved with homeschooling.
The Scripture I've chosen brings us full circle, in a way, because the second half of this passage was one of our first School Scriptures. When my children were young and we were doing our best to figure things out, choosing curriculum and navigating busy schedules, we needed the Lord to direct our paths! Our understanding of how to home educate was still developing and limited. On this end of the journey, we still don't know all there is to know about homeschooling, but we've made it through all of that, and now my children are young adults. Kennady is still a student, and as she finishes her studies and must make decisions about her career and how to put her education to practical use, she still needs to trust the Lord and allow him to direct her path. As a tutor, I need that as well, because I have a responsibility to my students and their families to do my best to teach and inspire them in the right paths for each of them.
The first part that I added . . . no matter what we do, whether as young people launching from school into adulthood, or as older adults who are parents and grandparents and mentors, love and faithfulness must be constant and foremost in our lives. Having God's Word written in our hearts and listening to his Spirit directing our paths is how we live well all our days.
Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct your paths.
~Proverbs 3:3-6~

Here are School Scriptures from previous years:
With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
~II Thessalonians 1:11-12~
(Apparently I did not make a graphic or a separate post for the 2021-2022 School Scripture! This passage from II Thessalonians was sort of a continuation of the 2020-2021 Scripture which follows.)

I like how you made a yearly graphic with your scripture verse, Kym. I'm thankful for the 26 years I homeschooled, but I'm also thankful that season has ended for me. Rejoicing with you that you are still teaching through your co-op. I'm sure the parents are so thankful for your knowledge, skills, and encouragement.
The yearly scripture graphics are a great idea, Kym! I'm sure the parents of the co-op are so thankful for your knowledge, skills, and encouragement! Congratulations for 20+years teaching! I'm thankful for all the years homeschooling our children, but I'm also thankful to be done.
Wonderful collection of verses! We need to encourage our children, grandchildren, and teachers and I am certain these verses will be a help throughout the school year!
Kim, I love your yearly school Scripture verses and graphics.

I enjoyed your article and how you chose a school scripture each year. And this is great, "love and faithfulness must be constant and foremost in our lives."
