Homeschool Highlights - College and Co-op Week Four

This post contains affiliate links - using affiliate links from Homeschool Coffee Break helps fuel this blog and our homeschool - thank you!

Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

If you would be interested in taking over this link-up, please let me know! I've loved hosting you, but because my youngest has graduated and my schedule is changing, I think it's time to pass the baton to someone else.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

This week's news  . . . This was, in general, one of the quietest weeks we've had in a long time. I mean, we were busy as ever, but there was just nothing in the schedule that really stood out. We had a quiet weekend. On Saturday morning, the hubster and I cleaned up the laundry area and defrosted the deep freeze. When he took apart the dryer vent to clean it, he found some damage so we decided it needed replacing. Kennady and I made a trip to town to drop off a few boxes full of books at Wonder Books, pick up some groceries, and get the needed dryer repair supplies. Spencer took responsibility for the repairs, which was pretty nice!

Yes, a picture of my freezer. I had to - it's so organized!!

We had big breakfast at church on Sunday morning, so no one was really hungry at lunch time. So I got away without making any lunch, and could nap a bit longer instead. In other words, not much got accomplished on Sunday.

This week there wasn't anything very unusual about our work and school schedule either. Kennady didn't have classes on Monday - only her voice lesson - so she was able to hang out with some friends which was a nice break for her. Her classes continue to go well and she doesn't have an overwhelming amount of homework. Co-op classes went well for me this week. I had the first batch of essays to grade for the non-fiction writing class, and all the students did a great job. This week my Literature class finished our study of Pudd'nhead Wilson. A couple of the students were intrigued with one of the suggested activities of making a diorama of one of the scenes from the book. These teenage girls had fun with a craft that we all associate with grade school! There's a scene with characters working in the fields near the river, and the dramatic courtroom scene at the end of the book.

Thursday evening everyone was out (as usual!) except me, so I had a couple of my friends over for a glass of wine and a visit. It was perfect weather to sit out on the porch for awhile and talk while enjoying the (mostly) quiet evening.

This evening Kennady and I are planning to go to a jazz concert at the college. Since I am busy working on Fridays, and since I'm thinking of winding down the Homeschool Highlights link-up, I'm going to try getting it ready and posting early on Fridays, but really I'd like to find someone who would be interested in taking over this link-up. Yet another thing to give up as I'm not truly homeschooling any more.

What's Coming Up . . . October is coming up already! Which is just crazy to me, because time seems to go so quickly. Anyway, here are a couple things that are coming up.

Today the September 2019 Homeschool Collection will appear on the Homeschool Review Crew blog. Do check it out! Each month's collection features a variety of articles by Crew bloggers, and there really is something for everyone.

Homeschool Collection {Monthly Round UP}
Of course Crew members are always working on reviews of homeschool products, and usually you'll find one or two product reviews featured on the Homeschool Review Crew each week. Coming up in a couple of weeks, the Crew's reviews of the new drawing instruction program from Creating A Masterpiece will appear, and I'm mentioning that because Kennady and I are working on that one and enjoying it!

On my blogs last week . . .

And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished (but have yet to review) Pudd'nhead Wilson by Mark Twain, and I've been reading:

A parting shot . . . Time keeps going by like . . .
