Homeschool Highlights - College and Co-op Week Ten

This post contains affiliate links - using affiliate links from Homeschool Coffee Break helps fuel this blog and our homeschool - thank you!

Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

If you would be interested in taking over this link-up, please let me know! I've loved hosting you, but because my youngest has graduated and my schedule is changing, I would love to pass the baton to someone else.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

This week's news  . . . Well, I came home from work on Friday and crashed. So tired! But thankfully I was up and feeling better on Saturday morning. Kennady and I went to enjoy a paint day and brunch with ladies from the church. Meaghan had planned to go with us but then had to work, so another of Kennady's friends (also an auxiliary daughter of mine) went instead. We had a light lunch and a fun time painting Santa characters.

However, we didn't get much done the rest of the day! In the evening Kennady went with friends to a bonfire, and the hubster and I just stayed home and relaxed.

It was nice to have a little extra sleep on Saturday night because of Daylight Saving Time ending, but I am still not a fan and I would prefer to not have to change the clocks at all. This week we've had mostly clear and cool weather as we adjusted to the time change and had a fairly routine week of work and school.

Normal except that we are still driving a rental vehicle while our car is being repaired. And that will continue for at least another week, as far as we know now. It's fine except that Kennady isn't allowed to drive the rental vehicle, and that means that she can't drive herself to college. So I dropped her off and picked her up on Monday instead of the other way around. Obviously I had to give her a ride on Tuesday and Wednesday as well. I didn't get much done at home those days, but I rearranged my schedule so that I could run errands on Tuesday and stop at my friend's for a relaxed coffee break on Wednesday.

I switched up the lesson plan for my co-op class a bit. Almost all the students were having some difficulty with the current essay assignment, so instead of having them submit them this week, I gave everyone another week to work on them. We spent some of our class time talking through the assignment and hopefully the extra time will give students a chance to polish and improve their work. Kennady has also been working quite a bit on writing for her college class. She's done well on her essays so far, but is a bit relieved that the quizzes don't count nearly as much towards her grade because she hasn't tested very well.

After co-op yesterday, I picked Kennady and Meaghan up and they got themselves a pizza for dinner. Next stop was at the cell phone store where we got Meaghan a new phone on our plan and asked a few questions about possibly upgrading phones for the rest of us. Landon and Kennady both have some issues with their phones, so I think they will probably need to trade them in. Spencer and I are still fine with what we have.

What's Coming Up . . . It's down to the last few reviews for the 2019 Homeschool Review Crew. I've already done my last review. Applications are being accepted for the 2020 Homeschool Review Crew so if you'd be interested, head over to the Homeschool Review Crew blog to find out more. See the news release article on Faith Newswire for information and for the link to the 2020 Review Crew application.

Join the 2020 Homeschool Review Crew! The Homeschool Review Crew is now accepting applications for the upcoming year! Find out more by visiting Homeschool Coffee Break @ kympossibleblog.blogspot.com

The end of the Review Crew year also means that Crew members have been voting for their favorite review products for 2019. Soon the Blue Ribbon Awards will be announced! Follow the Crew blog and watch for those. I plan to write a wrap-up of our favorite review products for 2019 that will appear sometime next week.

On my blogs last week . . .

And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Recent Reads: Immanuel Labor: God's Presence in Our Profession
Wordless Wednesday - Autumn Sunshine
Recent Reads - War of the Worlds
What I'm Reading - November 4, 2019
Scripture and a Snapshot - Truth

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished and reviewed War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells, and I've been reading:

The Friendly Persuasion by Jessamyn West
Penny For Your Secrets by Anna Lee Huber
Undertones by L.S. Popovich
Church With No Walls by Noah Cleveland

A parting shot . . .  when you need to be the unpaid uber driver getting your kid to and from college for a week or two, you get to sit in this parking spot quite a bit.
