Clear

One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is an extra 10 Day Writing Prompt Challenge from Five Minute Friday. From March 2nd to March 11th, those of us who are took part wrote for five minutes each day on this set of prompts.

Although I wrote each day, I didn't publish each day.  This is what I wrote for Day Ten, prompted by the word "clear".

nothing but clear skies
clear away the clutter

I love clear sunny skies. especially the clear skies of the wide open west. I've never understood why the sky seems bigger in Alberta or Montana, but it really does. especially when it's clear and cloudless. Even when there are clouds, actually.

A room looks bigger when it's clean and the clutter has been cleared away too, I guess. My kitchen and dining room feel so much bigger when the counter is cleared off and there isn't stuff piled on the sideboard. and my desk - I wonder how big it would be if I cleared the stuff off it. The piles of papers that I keep meaning to sort through but somehow never quite finish. I could sure use a bigger desk so maybe I should make time for that.

Which means I might need to clear my calendar to make the time. (seems like that's been done for me!) The squares on my calendar seem a little bigger at the beginning of a new month, before I've filled so many of them in with the many activities and appointments.

Clear skies - cleared space - a cleared calendar. Oh, it won't stay clear. The clouds will return, I'll put stuff on the desk and counters and not put it away immediately, and the squares on my calendar will be filled with things that are good and necessary. But maybe each time I clear the clutter, it will stay just a little clearer for just a little longer.

Thanks to Five Minute Friday for the prompts and the encouragement, as well as a link-up where we can share.
