Think Back Thursday: Landscapes

Maryland might not come to mind when listing states with great scenery.  Understandable.  I wouldn't have thought so either before we started considering our move here.  I've come to really love the views  though.  Those right outside my door, and many that are a little further away, but still in my adopted home state.  I started looking through photos and realized that over the last couple of years alone, I have quite a collection of landscape pictures taken from our property or within about a mile from our house.  My first plan for this week's Think Back Thursday was to share landscape pictures from all over Maryland, but decided to stick with just the truly local ones.

These first two pictures were taken just down the road from our house in April 2011, right after heavy rains had caused flooding that close most of the local roads.

This was what our backyard (and beyond) looked like that spring.

Views from our front door in autumn...

and summer...

and winter...

Some views from our back porch in summer...

autumn...

and winter.

Just down our road a little way...

Maryland's scenery is a little different from the majestic mountains and vast prairies where I grew up, but as I've come to consider it home, I've also come to appreciate the beauty here.

What kind of scenery is right outside your door?  Do you appreciate it, or do you tend to take it for granted?

Visit Debbie's Digest to join in with Think Back Thursday, and to see what other bloggers are sharing for this week's theme.  Next week's theme will be Something or Someone in Motion, and upcoming themes are Railroad/Train/Train Tracks and Autumn.

Think Back Thursday is a photo meme that encourages sharing something from the past.  It is hosted by Debbie's Digest.  You can find out more about it, and how you can participate, by clicking the link or the button below.

thanks, Debbie! It was eye-opening to look for landscape pictures and realize that I had so many beautiful scenes from right here! Reminded me how blessed I am to live here.
