Homeschool Weekly: 12 Days Update Edition

This post may contain affiliate links - using affiliate links from Homeschool Coffee Break helps fuel this blog and our homeschool - thank you!

Calling this edition the "Homeschool Weekly" is a bit of a misnomer - no homeschool  has happened recently, at least not in the traditional sense of the word!

In other news... Here's how we're doing with our Twelve Days of Christmas challenge.

As you can see, we've crossed quite a few things off the list, but we've added things too! Since Christmas Eve, we've played lots of games - mostly dominoes - and we've done at least half a dozen puzzles. We've watched some movies, some hockey, and some football. We've been busy baking and cooking - and eating!! We celebrated my birthday. We attended our annual New Years Eve party. It wasn't crossed off the list at the time I took this picture, but we've seen fireworks, phoned family members, and attended another party. We've also got a box of cookies ready to mail away. We haven't been sledding or skiing, but there hasn't been any snow either!

This puzzle was one of Kennady's gifts.
Waffles and Awesome Sauce!

Just some of the cookies we've baked, in various tins and boxes.

Yours truly, the Birthday Girl

12 Days of Christmas

I recommend... this new weekly challenge and link-up at Family, Faith, and Fridays. I need to get my house back in order - or maybe in order to begin with! - and starting a new year is a great time to do that. I'm planning to participate - join us!

Our first assignment (given Friday) is to organize our holiday decorations as we put them away. That will be happening at our house this coming week, so I will let everyone know how that went next week!

For some reason, I decided to do some extra scrubbing in the kitchen on New Years Day, and the result was the backsplash behind the stovetop being the cleanest it's been since we moved into the house, I bet. Without a "before" picture to compare to, this doesn't mean much, but I was delighted at finally getting this thing properly cleaned.

On the bookshelf... Not a whole lot on the bookshelf recently, but I've been browsing some magazines, and I just started reading The Legend of the Firefish (Trophy Chase Trilogy)
by George Bryan Polivka. I need to update my book blog soon.

A parting shot... I just kind of felt like the wrapped turkey thawing in the fridge needed a smiley face.

But I wasn't expecting that he would make such an impression on the ginger ale.
