In our homeschool... we still had Drivers Ed to work around each day this week, but we're also finished with much of our schoolwork for the year and just about ready to take some breaks! Kennady worked on getting a few more things done in Science, Geography, and Math this week. She also got some new art supplies so she has been doodling and playing around with that.

Landon tied up a few loose ends in Algebra and continued working on History during the few afternoons he had available. He'll continue to work on those things to finish them up, and I guess he'll have to work especially hard next week so he'll be ready to take some time off.

Kennady and I got to go on a field trip this week, visiting the Baltimore Museum of Art with a group of our homeschool friends on Thursday, and that was definitely the highlight of our school week! It was kind of too bad that the timing worked out so that I had to share my review of the Exploring Creation Field Trip Journal from Apologia before that trip (read it HERE), but I guess I can always add an update. I also shared our review of Student Writing Intensive from Institute for Excellence in Writing this week. I am allowing the kids a break from that as well, but we will be continuing with it when school starts up again.

As far as reviews, we will now be able to give more attention to a Bible study from Prasso Ministries.  I'm working on using the Homeschool Planet online planner from Homeschool Buyers Co-op, for a review later this summer; and Kennady will also start using Unlock Math this coming week.

In other news... remember how my living room looked last week? Let me remind you...

This week, the old (ugly) carpet was torn out, and we got our new floor installed! Now it looks like this:

I love it! Today we started figuring out where to put the furniture back in that room, and we'll have to put pictures back up and all that stuff. Wish I had money to buy new end tables and bookshelves. And to put fieldstone over the brick on the fireplace while I was at it!

Did another week of multiple trips to town for Drivers Ed and all kinds of other things, including doing some year-end reviews with homeschool families.

We had a pretty big thunderstorm roll through at the beginning of the week. Although there were trees and large limbs down all around us, it appeared we hadn't sustained any damage. But then we did find a tree uprooted at the very back of our property. Oh well. I guess it's sad but it doesn't bother us because it didn't damage anything else, and it's not like it was a favorite tree or was even producing fruit (that was edible).

We got our pool set up and ready to use! It looks kind of hillbilly, but it works, so we're okay with that!

Things that made me smile... these kids at the art museum.

34 Weeks of Clean...
I'm participating in a weekly challenge and link-up at Family, Faith, and Fridays and our assignment was the Linen Closet. We got started on this the previous week, and Spencer finished the job for me this week. Here's our "Before" photo (YIKES!):

Here's the work in progress - at the beginning of this week:

And here's what it looks like now. Thanks, Spence!

For Week 24, the assignment is the porch and deck. Uh-oh. Our deck mainly needs to be repaired and painted. Hubby started painting a little this week, and we are hoping to get more done this week. For the details of the assignment, go to Family, Faith, and Fridays. Join in if you haven't already, and check back next week for our progress!

I recommend... the Baltimore Museum of Art, if you're in the area. It's free and the collection is large and varied enough to keep you busy for an entire day at least.

On the bookshelf...

Hearts Made Whole (Beacons of Hope) by Jody Hedlund
Laiden's Daughter by Suzan Tisdale - sadly, this one seems to be deteriorating as I get nearer the end.
The Unknown Ajax by Georgette Heyer (isn't that an odd title? I'm still waiting to see how it ties in.)

I finished The Secret of Pembrooke Park by Julie Klassen and reviewed it on my book blog. I just finished Abigail: A Novel (The Wives of King David) by Jill Eileen Smith yesterday evening, so I haven't written anything about it yet. However, you can find out more about what I'm currently reading, and other book-related posts on my book blog, Just A Second.

A parting shot... a pair of birds decided to set up housekeeping in a cheap birdfeeder my husband made out of an empty milk jug. It's right outside one of our windows, so it's been interesting to watch them build the nest, and I assume there are probably eggs in it by now.

Portfolio reviews were May 30th so our year officially ended then...but Cate and Sam will be doing some summer studies starting in July. We have a few areas that need some additional attention. Not every day or for hours, but. There's something awesome about wood floors! I wished I had them here, but under the carpet isn't anything we can work with. I kind off forgot about the cleaning challenge...LOL
