It's so exciting to get together all our school supplies and books for the year ahead! Here's the quick rundown of the books and resources we've got ready to go:
Curriculum
Grammar, Composition, and Literature
Student Writing Intensive (Institute for Excellence in Writing)
Fix-it! Grammar (Institute for Excellence in Writing)
Lightning Lit and Comp course British Early-Mid 19th Century
Miniatures and Morals by Peter J. Leithart
(and all the novels we'll study - we do own almost all of them)
Math
Consumer Math (Switched On Schoolhouse)
Life of Fred Pre-Algebra and Algebra
Social Studies
Exploring America from Notgrass (also covers American Lit and Bible)
Cultural Geography (BJU Press)
Electives
School Supplies
I don't make a big deal about back to school shopping for clothes or supplies. Even though school supplies are on sale, the stores are crowded this time of year, and I know the items we might need will be on clearance soon. I can't remember the last time I needed to buy lined paper - over the past few years, we've been given so many packages of it that I doubt we'll ever use it all! Most of the school supplies we need I just pick up over the course of the year whenever the need arises. Things we keep in stock and use are:
pencils and pens
printer paper
printer ink
3-ring notebooks and folders
stapler, pencil sharpener, 3-hole punch
spiral notebooks
colored pencils, paints, pastels, etc
sketch pads, tracing paper, art papers of all kinds
flash drives and CDs for saving writing assignments and digital resources
plastic bins and crates for storage
student logbook or calendar
reference books and resources
And let's not forget... our library card!!
Whenever I feel a little overwhelmed and under-prepared, I remind myself that we already have ALL of the above in stock, basically well-organized, and ready to go! Quite an accomplishment for this procrastinating, organizationally-challenged homeschool mom! Let the games begin!

I love looking at all the curriculum selections and school supplies. We're using some of the same books too. Looks like a fun year.
This looks like really good stuff! We have started but I'm not really ready, lol
Thanks for stopping by my blog Kym. :) It looks like you've got the year pretty much figured out! It's fun having older kids, isn't it?
