Fast Transcripts - A Homeschool Coffee Break Review and Giveaway

Fast Transcripts - A Homeschool Coffee Break #review and #giveaway at kympossibleblog.blogspot.com

A common concern once our homeschooled students reach high school age is the transcript. Where do I get one for my student? What do I put on it? Will it be accepted by colleges? Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) has an easy and affordable solution - Fast Transcripts. I had the opportunity to use and review a Fast Transcripts account for my student, and I'm here to tell you that it was quick and easy to prepare an official high school transcript and have it ready for those college applications!

Fast Transcripts makes it possible for homeschool parents to create professional high school transcripts and takes the guesswork out of the GPA calculation.

It took me just a few minutes to get an account set up and enter my student's information and our homeschool information. Then I filled in each year's courses and the grade and credit earned for each. The course title field offers suggestions for the course titles, which made that even easier. I could also refer to the sidebar which showed three options - general high school, general college prep, and rigorous college prep - and some suggested coursework and guidelines for each. I entered a letter grade for each course and whether it was a full or half credit course. The program calculated the GPA for me, so I didn't have to do any math!

My student is planning to graduate this school year, as a junior, so I entered the courses and their credit value for this year, and put "IP" (in progress) in the field for Grade. The program doesn't count in progress courses in the GPA, but this would allow us to print a current transcript if it's needed before the courses are complete.

I saved a copy of this "in progress" transcript, so I could see what it looks like - and it looks very professional indeed.

What I liked best:
  • so simple to use and basically self-explanatory!
  • GPA calculated automatically, including weighting the GPA for any AP courses that appear on the transcript (See the FAQs for more info).
What I need to mention:
  • of course I needed my student's grades in front of me, which I had already calculated.
  • each account is for only one student, so if you have more than one, you'll need to purchase a 2+ student account
  • if it's important to you to have the transcript printed for you, on watermarked academic paper, that option is available at an additional cost.
My bottom line: If you're worried about producing a high school transcript that will be accepted by the college of your student's choice, worry no longer! Fast Transcripts is incredibly easy to use, and at a very affordable price. That's one thing you can soon check off on your "homeschool through high school" to-do list! Fast Transcripts wants to make it even easier for one of my readers to create that transcript, and is offering a 1-year license for a Single Student.
