September's Art Challenge: Artist Studies
This week A Glimpse of Our Life is continuing on imitating the style of Eric Carle. Keep an eye out for more studies to follow! Leave a link on our Virtual Fridge to your own artist study or art how-to post, or to the art projects you and your kids have created in your homeschool.
Kennady was introduced to the art and style of Georgia O'Keeffe in a co-op class quite a few years ago and still loves her work. Today she did this flower in chalk pastel in a style similar to Georgia O'Keeffe's.
An O'Keeffe Flower, KAT - 2015 |
I hate flowers — I paint them because they're cheaper than models and they don't move! ~Georgia O'KeeffeHere's the piece she did in co-op so long ago. At that time, the teacher provided the pencil outline and the students used chalk to add color.
When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have not time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not. ~Georgia O'Keeffe
When we visited the Baltimore Museum of Art earlier this year, we saw a couple of O'Keeffe pieces on display there.
