This has been a busy week for us, since we had family visiting during the first half of the week, and so there was no new art. So I found a couple of things from the archives to share today, making this a Throwback Thursday on the Virtual Fridge!

We have been cleaning and sorting boxes of school things and photos in our family room, and a couple weeks ago I came across this doodle of Landon's from years ago. He was probably four or five years old when he did this, and I remember him doing many pages of grid patterns like this. At one point when we'd asked him what he was drawing, he'd told us it was a jelly machine. Like duh, we should have recognized that.

And I was reminded of this doodle from the past, when it showed up as one of my "memories" on Facebook. I can't remember how old Kennady was when she did this cartoon of herself in God's armor - maybe about eight years old or so. It's done on a piece of scrap paper, but even so it's quite precious to me and is still here by my desk.

Isn't it fun to get a glimpse of what a kid is thinking by looking at their doodles? Kennady's doodles clearly show her interests - she has a whole series of Eiffel Tower drawings . . .

and she also has many doodles based on the movies, TV shows, books, and music she particularly likes.  This is a very small collection from her "Lord of the Rings Phase".

My kids rarely doodle... my middle son does on occasion and usually it's Minecraft scenes or characters from TV shows.
