Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news  . . . At the beginning of this week, we did our quarterly assessment and thankfully we're not in bad shape. It would sure be nice if we were further along in math, and ready to start Grammar and Composition, but stuff happened. And we're not in trouble, so long as we can keep at it. There have been a few interruptions lately, with trips to Columbus and such, so some of it was unavoidable.

During the week, Kennady worked mostly on History, Health, and Math. For a couple of days, she's had to work on her own because the hubster and I are traveling again, but next week we should be back to a more normal school routine - except for Thanksgiving!

Other news . . . Last weekend, the hubster and I went to Columbus to help Harrison and Angela move into a new apartment; and of course to visit little Veronica. The move went very smoothly, and we got the good news that Veronica would be able to go home on Sunday.

The week was busy as well, although I went to a homeschool moms meeting on Tuesday evening instead of my usual choir practice. On Wednesday, the hubster and I took off on another short trip, this time to visit his family in Ontario, so we've been trusting the kids to manage on their own for a couple of days.

I recommend . . . visiting CrossTimber as you do your Christmas shopping. This wonderful company makes beautiful personalized name meaning gifts, some of which I reviewed a few weeks ago. You can read my full review here: Name Meaning Gifts from CrossTimber. CrossTimber is sponsoring a Christmas Giftaway that gives you a chance to win a personalized mug or plaque, or gift cards to use on CrossTimber products. Go check it out, chat with John and find out your name's meaning, enter the giveaway, and get some Christmas shopping done! Good luck!

Here on Homeschool Coffee Break:

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished and reviewed Shadow of the Storm (Out From Egypt)by Connilyn Cossette, and I've been reading:

A parting shot . . . I got these coffee cup themed nail wraps awhile ago and it amused me to see how well they matched my new Tim Horton's travel mug.

Isn't it nice to have great kids who can handle things alone for a bit when needed? Your coffee cup wraps are cute!!

I figured a wrap up post of we are all sick we did nothing wouldn't be too interesting so I skipped this week. Plan to add all to My Pinterest board though.

Traveling season seems to be in full swing for you. Glad that your quarterly check shows you in pretty good shape. That makes the next part not as stressful, I imagine. I am heading over to your book blog now. I need to follow it to feed my reading desires. :) - Lori
