Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.
Homeschool news . . . Well, it felt good to be back on track with school and have some adjusted plans that are helping us stay on track. At the beginning of the week, I was still doing a lot of running around in order to look after vehicle things, but Kennady was able to keep going with all of her subjects - except Biology. We still need to do some catching up there. She's doing most of the Grammar on her own and just checking in with me once a week, so that is going faster. We even added some Art, since we'll be reviewing Creating A Masterpiece.
On Tuesday I met with several other homeschool moms to work on our plans for a high school level co-op to start in September. I am planning on teaching a writing class, and there are some other pretty exciting classes being offered! We're thinking Kennady will take French I and hopefully Photography. There may be one or two other classes that will work for her too.

Other news . . . I spent all of last Friday and Saturday working, brewing and providing coffee for conference goers at a women's prayer retreat. It was fun, but boy my feet were killing me at the end of the second night!
Of course we watched the big game on Sunday! Or I suppose it would be more accurate to say we spent the evening with friends and had the game on the TV. Good food and lots of fun; and definitely an interesting game!
Spencer was successful in finding himself a car on Saturday, and the hubster noticed a nice RAV4 on the lot that seemed like a good possibility for us, so on Monday evening, we went back to the same dealership and purchased it!
The kids will be off at a winter retreat with the youth group this weekend, so the house will be a bit quieter. Not sure what we'll do yet, but I suppose maybe I should work on some housecleaning . . .

Speaking of housecleaning, I am failing at 34 Weeks of Clean right now. I am at least a week behind. I still haven't done my freezers, and the fridge isn't as clean as it should be. This week we were supposed to be organizing our recipe collections, and probably other participants have been, but I haven't even started that yet! Visit Michele at Family, Faith and Fridays to see how everyone is doing. I'll catch up eventually.
What's Working . . . our transportation is working again! Spencer got a new Corolla (seen in the background), and the hubster and I got a new RAV4. New to us, in both cases, rather than brand spanking new. Glad this insurance episode is behind us!
I recommend . . . following along with A Net In Time and Hopkins Homeschool, as they're Blogging Through the Alphabet. I got sidetracked with all the other stuff going on this week, so my post inspired by the letter D is still to come!
Check out The Old Schoolhouse Magazine website, where you can find tons of reviews on curriculum and other products as well.
I also recommend the Homeschool Review Crew blog, as new curriculum reviews have been posting this week; and today you'll also find a collection of posts from Crew members discussing how we keep Christ the center of our homeschool.
