Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news  . . . This was a tough week as far as schoolwork. Kennady had the opportunity to work a few days this week, and because she needed a ride, those days were the ones that I was home. Her co-op homework was first priority, so that got done, and she did very well in French this week. I still have to grade papers for Writing class from this week, but from a quick read-through I'd say she did really well with that assignment. Some History and some Algebra completed as well, but I feel like we probably need to pick up the pace.

Other news . . . The weekend was crazy, because Landon and Kennady went to winter retreat with the church youth group, while I worked all weekend at a conference. The kids were out of the house so at least we didn't have to plan around them and their needs to go places, but I wasn't home most of Friday or Saturday so I was extremely tired! Then a last minute thing came up for the other worship leader at church, so I wound up filling in on Sunday morning without much notice. Good thing we're still doing very simple acoustic sets while the renovation is in progress! Speaking of the renovation, let's check how that's going:

This is what we had on Sunday morning.

Pretty sweet! But the construction stuff was all in the side overflow areas, so that was a fun visual!

And then we all the chairs were moved out again.

And this week our new chairs arrived!

By the end of this week, the painting was in progress, and I think by Sunday we'll have the stone on that center section.

As I mentioned, Kennady was able to work at the piano shop three part-days this week. She started spending some earnings this week too, by adding a new ukulele to her collection.

I was busy with a co-op board meeting, homeschool moms night out, and our co-op open house this week, in addition to all the usual mayhem.

Happy Fastnacht Day! Did you grab donuts on Tuesday?

What's Working . . . co-op classes are working out so well! I really do wish we'd been able to do a high school level co-op like this earlier, but all the pieces finally fell into place this year and I'm so glad. Kennady missed being in her Speech & Presentation class with that group of friends, so yesterday at the Open House I allowed her to sit in on the Economics class that group was doing. Not only did she enjoy it, I do believe she learned something! And writing class is going well - and we are enjoying The Power In Your Hands so much that we've decided to go ahead with the high school fiction writing course from Sharon Watson for next year at co-op. Kennady wants to do that course either way so it's all good. I'm going to be ordering our copy of Writing Fiction [In High School] in the next couple of days. We are opening registration for returning families in just a couple of weeks, and we already know that Kennady will be taking French II, Fiction Writing, and Speech/Presentation II.

On my blogs last week . . .

Here on Homeschool Coffee Break:
And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I've been reading:

Judah's Wife: A Novel of the Maccabees (The Silent Years) by Angela Hunt
A Light on the Hill (Cities of Refuge) by Connilyn Cossette

A parting shot . . . this cutie learned to walk this week! Guess it must have tired her out!

I wish I had thought to pick up donuts on Tuesday! I didn't even write a weekly wrap- up post this week. We did finally get some schoolwork done at the end of our week but it was mostly another quiet week spent at home.

I love comments! It's like visiting over a virtual cup of coffee.
