Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news  . . . On Friday evening our homeschool umbrella group had our orientation meeting to kick off the school year, and one of the little details of business we looked after was setting the date for the graduation ceremony. It feels very strange to think that this really is my last year homeschooling! Other than that, I don't have any homeschool news to share for the week because we've been on vacation. School will start on Monday for us - at least that's what we've got planned! Co-op classes start on Thursday.

Other news . . . On Saturday afternoon, we all went to a fundraiser event hosted by a family from our church in memory of their son. The worship band from our church played, and Kennady was playing with them this time. They sounded great!

I also won two of the gift baskets in the silent auction!

On Monday evening I got together with a couple of friends for what we call our Fireside Chat night. A little fireplace on their patio and a couple glasses of wine, along with a little conversation.

Tuesday morning we tried to stick to our usual routine, but in the afternoon we had to scramble to get a few things packed so we could head to Ontario for the rest of the week. We picked up my sister and niece at the airport a bit after midnight, and stayed at my sister-in-law's place for a couple of days. We've taken my sister and niece to do some sight-seeing in the area, including Niagara Falls. On the weekend we'll drop them off where my niece will be at university and we'll head home.

That's about it for this week's edition of Homeschool Highlights - it's a bit shorter than usual because of our vacation time, but I hope to have some actual homeschool stuff to start sharing next week!

On my blogs last week . . .

And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Recent Reads - Fawkes
Scripture and a Snapshot - Sow Generously

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished and reviewed Fawkes: A Novel by Nadine Brandes, and I've been reading:

Treacherous Is the Night (A Verity Kent Mystery) by Anna Lee Huber

A parting shot . . . Did you know she can juggle? She's been working on her juggling skills for a bit over a year.

That's cool! I've always wanted to juggle but barely even have the hand/eye coordination to catch anything. We're heading to Niagara falls soon ourselves.
