ArtAchieve on the Virtual Refrigerator - share your art posts on our Virtual Refrigerator - an art link-up hosted by Homeschool Coffee Break @ kympossibleblog.blogspot.com

Welcome to the Virtual Refrigerator art link-up! Thank you for joining us as we share what we're creating in our homeschools. We cordially invite you to add your link sharing artwork that's on your Virtual Refrigerator and then hop over to the other blogs and admire what's on their Fridges too! The Virtual Fridge link-up is open all month, with anchor posts planned for each Wednesday.

I have to be honest and say that there is no new art here again this week. I feel bad about it because after all, I'm hosting this weekly art link-up, and we just can't keep up with something new each week. As much as Kennady likes to be creative, she's not doing an art course for credit this year, so it's only a hobby for free time. This means that she doesn't have new things completed all the time, and when she does, it's not always something she is willing to share.

So like I said, I was feeling a little discouraged and not sure what to post this week, and then I remembered a great discovery I made recently (hat tip to a Review Crew member who shared the news) that an online art course we reviewed awhile back is now available on SchoolhouseTeachers.com! For us, that means that I have a place to send Kennady for ideas for art projects when she does have the time. For the Virtual Fridge today, it means I'm going to share these projects from the archive and maybe tempt you to go over to SchoolhouseTeachers.com and check out the entire curriculum!

Just over a year ago, we reviewed an online art curriculum called ArtAchieve. We really enjoyed it! All the lessons are projects inspired by art from around the world, and include important cross-curricular connections between art, music, science, social studies, and language arts. The curriculum is divided into five levels and we had a subscription to one level for our review. Kennady completed several of those projects, and we were intrigued by some in other levels as well. I offered to purchase access to some of those other projects for Kennady later, but it was one of those things where we never got around to it because it wasn't a "for credit" project. I was delighted to find that one of the new courses available at SchoolhouseTeachers.com is the entire collection of lessons from ArtAchieve - Achieving Art Success with ArtAchieve.

Here are Kennady's past ArtAchieve projects - the full instructions are all available now in the art section on SchoolhouseTeachers.com.

This one was probably our favorite - the Chinese Horse.

Draw the World with ArtAchieve (A Homeschool Coffee Break Review) @ kympossibleblog.blogspot.com - our full review of ArtAchieve art lessons for kids for the Homeschool Review Crew

Our bottom line: I think this is just a wonderful resource with so many ways it can be adapted for use in a homeschool. The art lessons alone would be a great addition to a homeschool program, especially for families that want to include art but don't feel comfortable teaching it themselves. The Cross-Cultural Connections and just the way the lessons draw on inspiring and unique art objects from all over the world gives you so many ideas and options for incorporating an art lesson into other things you're studying or for using an art project to springboard into Social Studies, Science, Literature, and more. I'd especially recommend it for homeschoolers who love the Unit Study approach.
