In late January, it came to my attention that our state homeschool curriculum fair wouldn't be taking place this year. A scheduling conflict had been noticed too late and MACHE wasn't able to reschedule, so the whole thing was cancelled. So I called up my local fellowship group and suggested we host a small scale homeschool fair for our county. And for the record, I knew when I made the suggestion that I was setting myself up to be in charge of pulling it off! I had the help of three fantastic ladies who caught the vision and we spent some good times brainstorming and divvying up responsibilities. In the end, we were able to do this event with very little overhead cost, thanks to W. Wachter Auctions for allowing us the use of the building. We were able to welcome about 25 vendors and exhibitors, as well as a number of homeschool moms selling their used curriculum.

Shortly after 7AM, with the building set up as much as we could, we paused for prayer and for a photo with our banner.

Then the banner went up outside the building and we hoped we were ready, and that people other than our vendors and exhibitors would come!

They did! We didn't have a good system to keep track of visitors, but we had a fairly steady stream throughout the day, and all of the vendors and exhibitors we talked to were enthusiastic, supportive, and expressed interest in doing it again next year.

Looks like a great event. I should look into something like that around here. our annual convention is in another part of the state that makes it difficult for many of our local folks.

OH! That would have been great! New and used curriculum in the same place! Wonderful!

I used to work a lot of booths and events like this when I worked for the zoo (our education table). This looks like it was well organized and interesting. If you need to keep track of numbers, perhaps request people fill out a brief card on the way out of their favorite thing. That way you can get feedback and a guess at numbers.
