For the last few days, the hubster and I were on a short vacation to southern Ontario to see some family and friends. We stayed with his sister, visited with some old friends, attended his good friend's retirement party (our motivation for going on this particular weekend!), did a little bit of shopping, and even had a spare evening to spend at Port Dover.

As with all trips to Canada, a stop at one of the first Tim Horton's coffee shops was definitely in order!

Although we didn't buy this time, we had to shop hockey sticks at Canadian Tire.

Enjoyed some poutine, of course!

Okay, here are some photos from Port Dover! The water levels were really high along the beach and pier.

You can kind of see the wind turbines, and although the picture doesn't show it, it was clear enough that we could just make out the far shore.

No trip to Port Dover is complete without a meal of famous Lake Erie perch. This was some of the best perch we've ever had.

Back in Brantford, we discovered that the church where hubby grew up has a painted rock garden.

And finally, one of the views that I always enjoy - the rest stop at Tioga, Pennsylvania on the Route 15 has this beautiful overlook of the valley.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos and about your trip. I'd love to visit Canada someday. Tell me. What's in poutine? I've never heard of it but it looks tasty! :)

Sally - poutine is really a very simple dish! It's basically fries with gravy and cheese curds. The very fresh mild cheese curds that get all melty and gooey when you put the hot gravy on the fries. Yumm!

I love comments! It's like visiting over a virtual cup of coffee.
