Homeschool Highlights - The Week With More College Stuff, Again

Welcome to Homeschool Highlights! 

This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. It's been a whirlwind week in some ways. The weekend started with the family going out for lunch on Saturday to celebrate Father's Day. He got a complimentary brownie sundae and shared it with all of us!





Then Kennady and I went to a bridal shower on Saturday. One of her very close friends who graduated just last year is getting married in a couple weeks. I featured Kennady's gift on the Virtual Fridge this week:

Sunday was pretty quiet, with Landon gone on his company's annual fishing trip and not home until Monday night. On Monday I was away all day at a church conference, which was honestly such a nice break from being at work! I really enjoy my job, but the day off was a good switch to routine.

Tuesday and Wednesday were both very busy days, as Kennady and I had work responsibilities, I had physical therapy appointments, I had a couple of homeschool oversight reviews, and we had some college and drivers license things to look after.  On Tuesday afternoon, Kennady had her first road test for her drivers license. She didn't pass, but was able to get in for a second try on Wednesday. And on Wednesday she did great and is now a licensed driver!

But her fancy license card will come in the mail. Just a piece of paper for now. 

Also on Tuesday, we paid another visit to the college, looking after another step in getting Kennady enrolled for her classes. She needs to take one music prerequisite class, and hopefully we can get that out of the way during the summer as an online class.

On Wednesday evening, the boys went with our church group to serve ice cream in town, and Kennady went out with friends, while the hubster and I hit the road for a weekend trip to visit some family and friends in Canada. We're on a little vacation and letting our big kids - all adults or very nearly adults - manage at home for a couple of days. By the time we get back home, Kennady will be gone to camp for a week, so I will probably be pretty lonely next week!

What's Working . . . I really hope that physical therapy is working! I've been having a lot of trouble with stiff, sore joints recently, and in particular one hip. It's a flare-up of bursitis, which I've had before, and we're trying physical therapy to deal with it. I think it's helping, but it's still very painful so I occasionally have my doubts. My goal is to be able to walk through the caves we visit during our Summer of Kennady trips without too much trouble.

When it was finally okay for me to go, he half-heartedly swung the "Slow" side of the sign up in the air and casually pointed. Then went back to this stance. Tough day at work.
