My coffee break was shorter and much later than usual this week, so my reading list will be a bit shorter too.
Some of the things around the web that I've been reading or exploring during recent coffee breaks:
- The FEE blog takes on the idea that parents are probably too busy or ill-informed to make the best possible decisions for their children's education in the article Yes, Parents Are Capable of Choosing How Their Children Should Be Educated.
- My Crewmate Heidi at The Unexpected Homeschooler tells you What You Should Know About the Benefits of Field Trips.
- This article at Intellectual Takeout was published last year, but I found it interesting all over again: The Tragic Decline of Music Literacy (and Quality)
- And at The Daily Signal, I found this article explaining how the electoral college works and why it's necessary to protect the rights of citizens, especially those in smaller states: Maine and Nevada Show Why the Electoral College Helps Small States, Not Red States
Some fun things I've found during coffee breaks: (humorous or lighthearted, perhaps video or memes, a lighter photo of mine)
- I thought this was a pretty neat idea, rewarding drivers who follow the speed limit with a little bit of music: These Japanese roads literally play you music as you drive over them at ClassicFM.
And I always love Nathan Pyle's cartoons!
Some things Homechool Review Crew members are sharing:
- In addition to all the current reviews, you'll want to browse through the Homeschool Collection, August 2019 Edition
- From the collection, I'm featuring Destiny at Some Call It Destiny, and her article How to Keep Consistency in Your Homeschool During Trials.
What I've been reading during longer coffee breaks: (books I'm currently reading, link to book blog)
A Study In Scarlet Women (The Lady Sherlock Series) by Sherry Thomas
The Butterfly Recluse by Therese Heckencamp
Pudd'nhead Wilson by Mark Twain
