A Pennsylvania Mountains PhotoJournal

On the first weekend of August, we got away for a little vacation to celebrate our anniversary. We spent a few days in the Potter County area of Pennsylvania. We did some easy hiking in the state parks around the area, and visited Cherry Springs State Park for stargazing on a couple of nights.

Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, from Colton Point State Park and Leonard Harrison State Park.

A little shopping in downtown Galeton, PA. We loved this antique mall called A Stroll down Memory Lane.

Trust me - there IS a railing there! This picture kind of freaked me out when I started reviewing my photos, because the railing blends in.

Didn't waste much effort trying to take pictures of the night sky at Cherry Springs - my camera is not intended for photos of the moon and stars!

Stopped near the town of Austin to see the ruins of the dam that failed there many years ago. There's a little memorial park around what's left of the dam site - Austin Dam Park

In appropriately named Elk Country, there really are plenty of elk to see! About sixty or so in this meadow.
