January and February Photo Album

I did not even do a January photo album post. I felt like I hadn't taken enough photos to make it worthwhile! So now I've got what will probably be too many photos of mostly the same things. Let's see what we find:

This was an interesting day. I was lamenting the fact that the screen in the window made it hard to get any kind of decent photo of the cardinals at my feeder, when - surprise! - a neighborhood cat made an unwelcome appearance. Totally 'luck' that I got the photo of the exact moment!

RIP cardinal.

Thankful that my daughter received roses from her boyfriend for Valentine's Day and keeps them where I can enjoy them as well.

Finally found a kindness rock - it's been a long time since I've been on the finding end!

Snow days were common, unfortunately. We had church services cancelled two weeks in a row, and one of our co-op days was a two-hour delay schedule, while another was cancelled entirely. We did our classes virtually this past week. Had to rig up a little desk area in my bedroom.

Still not entirely sure which family member instinctively lined the syrup bottles up so neatly when clearing the table after our Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner, but it made for a cute shot. If these were lined up by height, the second one is misplaced, but maybe they were lined up by alternating colorful lids?

We had a bridal shower for my son's fiancee.

My prize from the shower!

And we had more snow.

Removed the screen from the window so the cardinal photos are a tiny bit better.

Started reading one of my all time favorite novels with my Literature class. Not sure we'll be able to watch any of the DVD in class - probably not - but I plan to watch it myself. Or maybe with my girls, if they're interested.

In the moment the sunsets were beautiful, the hungry cat was startling, the snow was pretty but the cancellations were annoying, the household scenes were silly. I hope you enjoyed the quick tour through my camera roll!

So sad to see the cat. Roaming cats (and pets) kill many songbirds a year and have contributed severely to their decline. Pet owners should be aware of this and keep their animals from harming birds. In China, ~1958, Mao thought birds ate too much grain, started an Eliminate Sparrows Campaign (Chinese: 消灭麻雀运动; pinyin: Xiāomiè Máquè Yùndòng), which resulted in severe ecological imbalance, causing massive "bug blooms" causing the Great Chinese Famine. We need birds, and pet owners of cats in particular should be aware of their responsibilities.

Jeanne - yes, it was sad and we took some steps to make it harder for the feral cats to harass birds at the feeder. But that's what cats do - they are predators, especially when they are not pets. It's disappointing that your one takeaway from this whole collection of photos was a comment implying that perhaps I'm an irresponsible pet owner. Nothing could be further from the truth. Thanks for visiting.

Oh I bet that cat was quite the surprise! What a great collection of photos. So glad you were able to get the wedding shower in; it looks like such a fun time.

Congratulations to your son and fiance. Happy time in life. Great remembrances of the last two months. I haven't been out and about to take many photos, and really not much interesting out my windows lately except lots of snow drifts. We use to feed the birds..may need to do that. We had pretty ones when there was more of a woods beside us, but it has been taken down so haven't seen many pretty ones around. Have a great week and stay safe.
